Thanks for the info. Does the taycan have a minimum journey time / miles before it will preheat for DC charging?

I had this issue with my GV60, if my journey was fairly short to a DC charger, it would not preheat and I couldn't select preheat before I setoff.
I am not aware of the way to initiate HV battery preheat manually. That is why outofspec guys set it to Sport+.

Invaluable info everyone, its much appreciated ?

The Macan HUD looks another level.

Ice grey does look very nice, especially with gloss black contrasts.
My quick 2p having just sold a RWD Taycan after 3+ years ownership.

Ice Grey was a great colour. Would def choose again.

Sport Chrono irrelevant in a RWD Taycan imo.

Heated steering wheel useful.

20" wheels not too different in range to 19" (the 21" seem to be the bigger hit).

Personally if ordering again, I would be more interested in the Macan as the Taycan often just felt too big and cumbersome (bigger than a Range Rover) on UK roads.

On that point, surround view would be a must have.

On the Sport Chrono am I right in thinking:
- J1 - Sport+ mode was available without Sport Chrono?
- J1.2 - Sport+ mode requires Sport Chrono to be specced

I'm almost sure I had Sport+ on my first CT4S without Sport Chrono but I had to enable via menu.

I would add that Sport+ will do nothing for your range. If anything it will do the opposite - by putting more heat into the battery to keep it warm for power delivery. Yes, a warmer battery should also charge quicker (within limits) but range will be lower.

Pre-conditioning achieves the same in a more sensible / efficient way. If you want to do it manually then just use Sport mode - this also has a higher normal operating temp than normal so will do some heating (it may even heat up as quickly as in Sport+ but to a lower end state temp depending on how the system is tuned).

Overall pre-conditioning doesn't improve efficiency (does the oppposite). All it does, is save you some time when charging as the intial charging rate is higher. Would do nothing if you are trying to get to and from work on a single charge or with a top up at either end.

Regarding black trims - I much prefer black glossy window surrounds (and detest the silver - I associate silver trims with old men and 80s Jags). I do think that adding black gloss to mirrors is not essential - they are already black and blend in quite well with anything else black. I certainly didn't miss the gloss in any way on my first CT4S.

I'd have to skip Ice grey and Bose, but id be getting a colour that still looks great, wheels that look very good, a lovely quality interior (to please the extended leather mafia ?? joke lol) and a reasonable tech spec.

I think black paint and red leather is a classic partnership.

Finally after years of waiting, I've finally driven Taycan.

It truly drives like a sports car. Rwd more than enough power for me really.

Didn't feel large at all, although its obviously BIIIIG and was easy to manoeuvre without RWS.

Comparing to the Macan I drove, it was quieter inside and had no trim rattles. Tyre noise very noticeable in Macan.

Switch gear in both felt very good quality.

Curve ball would be to order one of the last 718 GTS ? (if porsche do indeed stop 718 production).

Funny thing, I took the Taycan down some smaller B roads today and into a village. It didn't once feel big, but ok that's a very limited exposure and in nice conditions.

Surround cam was superb when it eventually worked ?

Glad you enjoyed it.

I was tempted by the Macan and while by all accounts it’s a great car, seeing the Taycans in the showroom reminded us how much we enjoyed the first Taycan we had and how much more wow factor it had in comparison to the Macan (which I think looks great).

Within hours I managed to find an almost new CT4S online with a great spec and placed a deposit.

Macan was a nice car, some very impressive points, but I'd need a 4s to get the performance I'd want. Obviously that's a personal choice, but the 4 just didn't wow me in a straight line.

The interior rattle didn't help the experience.

But my word the HUD ?

I was definitely going to spec the HUD on the Macan as it seemed good value for the tech.

Porsche pricing for options is based on ability to extract as much profit as possible. The more premium the car the higher the price for the same options. For example the HUD in the Macan is more advanced than the Taycan yet cheaper. Innodrive from memory costs almost double in a Taycan vs Macan. Difficult not to feel ripped off especially when knowing that same options cost less on other Porsche models and when spending thousands on tech that is not superior (and is often inferior) to what is bundled with a mid range Hyundai.

But I must say I love the simple understated interior compared to just about anything else on the market. It will age very well.

They both felt quality, Taycan just effortless and silent.

They say never meet your hero's... it maybe a mainstream car, especially with nearly 700 on autotrader, but its special to me and today surpassed my expectations.

Still love the C63 though lol

Ok budget out the window, but I will be sticking with a RWD as I need the range.

Something along the lines of the above builds.

On the black spec, I introduced aluminium door trims.

I like purple sky, but not sure i can justify spending that much on paint. The interior / spec i see as more important.

If i went purple, I'd go slate grey, maybe partial leather.

I've also considered the first spec, black but with blackberry and crayon.

Any thoughts appreciated.
