Bike rack - license mlate

I’m trying to get my license plate installed to the Porsche bike rack. The problem is that if I actually try to put a holder plate, I can’t move it back to its compact form. Does anyone know how to do this? I know some people just glue, but that does not give me trust

I just stuck the plate onto the smooth, raised area with 3 sticky strips.
