My 2022 Taycan was in a minor accident and the only damage was a broken headlamp cover. The light is fully functional.
Wondering if anyone has replaced the cover rather than the full light which is going to cost me $4K with labor.

Thanks @ManuT4s. My question is can just the cover be replaced.

I do see a few broken ones on eBay with cover intact

I think you have to bake the whole light assembly to get the whole lens on/off. If you can find a good used one on eBay, I would do that and then sell yours right back on eBay. Maybe then you are only out $1000 or so when it is all done.

I saw a video on YouTube time ago, it’s not so difficult open the headlight compared other cars..have a look! There are few methods to open them, it’s not a big deal though
Just looked - pleasant surprise that you don't need to get heat and silicone all over the place :)

Less surprising is the price of an OEM one :) (£3-400).

Can you share the video link please
I just Googled "Taycan headlamp cover replacement" (or possibly lens instead of cover) and up it came.

Note the one I looked at did not show how to remove the headlight itself from the car.

I was involved in a minor accident months back where a car on the freeway flung up a shovel on and did some damage to the bumper and headlight cover. Porsche approved body shop said I cannot replace just the cover by itself. I ended up letting insurance care of it.

If you decide to do yourself just keep in mind a few things...

- If bumper needs to be undone, you'll most likely need to recalibrate cameras/sensors
- If you end up buying a different housing, you'll need to code the new/old one to your car
- Adjust/aim headlights. Slightly more complicated if you have air suspension and matrix headlights. You can always just pop the hood and start turning the screws, but I highly advise against this. The proper way to do it is to use PIWIS so the car sets the aiming of the headlights in neutral. There are a couple other checkpoints PIWIS says to do before adjusting i.e straight steering wheel, level ground, locks the air suspension. Porsche has a machine for this. They point the headlights at it and there are targets for the beams to hit, then tune the mechanical adjustments (kind of like the machine at the optometrist, the one that blows air into your eye)

Even though this workshop manual is for changing out Matrix housings, I imagine the steps would be similar if you have regular LED headlamps. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10177921-0001.pdf

Where did you find the video? I only find a video from YouTube where he CUTS open the housing beyond repair. There are now also lenses available separately from company called vroomer in Europe www.vroomer.pl.

I am repairing my headlamp low beams with new LED modules but I need to figure out how to get the lens off. I guess it is glued.
