I park my MY2020 4S in my garage in my home so I normally do not lock it. Here's the scenario.. I pull into the garage ...close the garage door and shut off the car using the power button. Get out of the car and close the door. Everything normal so far and doors are not locked, as I desire. If I happen to open the rear door to remove an item and then close the rear door all doors lock. Anyone have any idea why?

Do the doors actually lock or is it just that the handles retract? I do the same as you in terms of park in my garage and not lock the door. I just close and walk away. Once my key fob is out of range the handles retract. However, the mirrors do not fold in and the doors remain unlocked. I have tested this by leaving the key fob in the house and pulling on the retracted door handle. Once you overcome the slight resistance that happens when you pull on a handle that is not extended, the door opens because the car is still not locked. Therefore, for me, I can only tell visually the car is locked by seeing the mirrors folded in.

I agree with what you say... however if I open a rear door after closing the front door , upon closing the rear door car locks and mirrors retract. Don't know why.

Gotcha. That’s bizarre. Are you sure you are not inadvertently touching the comfort access lock “divot” on the rear door as you close it? That’s the only thing I can think of.
