Just thought I would post having received a Carplay ApplePie Mini Android Box box yesterday. Been really impressed with the functionality and completely transforms the PCM system from something that is very average (that's being polite) to something really quite good. Brief video below showing it running in my Taycan. Can be bought from various places - is made my a company called Exploter with the model number being UX999. Allows wireless CarPlay and Android Auto along with the ability to install any Android application (Netflix etc). Got mine in the UK for under £80 - but is on AliExpress / eBay too.

Thanks! I saw this posted elsewhere and planning to order one off Ali Express as well.

BTW where do you store that box while in use and driving?

Will post pictures tomorrow - but basically it just plugs into the USB-C port and connects via wired CarPlay. It boots automatically when starting the car up - takes about 30 secs or so. I just store it in the phone holder inside the armrest compartment. Has built in GPS and micro sim slot too. I use the micro sim to provide data to the Android layer and use my iPhone to connect via wireless CarPlay. That way I can use both interfaces at the same time without WiFi being used on the Android layer as that is obviously needed for wireless CarPlay. This is latest box and I think the only one that has the ability to use both Android and wireless CarPlay at the same time due to having a sim slot.

Can you tether your phone to the Android box to provide mobile wireless data to the apps?

I have an Android phone and want to run my Android Auto related functions off the box.

Do you receive GPS data inside the armrest ?
I bought an UX999 and the OEM GPS is not working on the Taycan. Also, the GPS reception is very bad in the Taycan with the Thermal/Sound insulated windshield.

Yes works ok for me. Although I use CarPlay for navigation which obviously uses the iPhone GPS instead.

In the Taycan, Carplay navigation use the GPS antenna from the car, not the phone.
This feature is called "OEM GPS" on the UX999. You can activate it on the setting of the Apple Pie.
It's working on my VW Polo but not in the Taycan.

For me, no GPS signal from ux999 in the Taycan. So I can't use any GPS based applications on the Apple Pie...

hey quick question, can you use this with a Samsung to essentially run android auto on? rather than using the box and setting up all contacts etc in that I would like to have android auto working via the phone. Also did you buy from aliexpress as well or did you manage to get a UK based supplier?

Yes you can. It will run Android Auto or Apple CarPlay from your phone. Bought mine in the UK - but was lucky as someone was selling their unused one on eBay.

I just use the built in GPS to the device itself which works fine even when inside the closed armrest.
