Hi all - I am preparing for a 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo coming home.

Window sticker says "Mobile Charger Connect" and "On-Board 150kW/400V DC Charger". I'd like to add the Charging Station Cabinet for my garage, and found this on Suncost Parts:
https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKUHYBSHELF.html

You have to select one of three options:
  1. Porsche Mobile Charger (Version 1)
  2. Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (Version 2)
  3. Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (Version 3)
Suncoast doesn't provide Part Numbers, but found this here, and looks like the part number is Porsche 7PP-915-706:
https://www.autohauspartsdelivered.com/oem-parts/porsche-charging-dock-7pp915706

Issue is, the description says "Mobile charging, type 1. "

Can someone confirm I have the "Mobile Charger Connect" and that is Version 3? There is a huge bag in the trunk with the charger in it. So I assume it is the Version 3.

I really don't know what the differences are between 1, 2 and 3 versions or if there are different part numbers.

Anyone help? I've seen some installs where they had different type of chargers and the cabinet when locked/closed, the charger wasn't flush to the front cabinet and a spacer had to be made.

Thanks in advance!

When ordering you can select the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (has a screen on the charger) which allows you to connect via wifi and monitor. It was a $1,200 option when I ordered my car so I did not select it. Here is what it looks like.
https://contact.porsche.com/middle-...iesandservice/porscheservice/software-update/

If you do not get the Connect, you should have the Plus.

Pure speculation on my part, but maybe the version 1 was for the Panamera Hybrid. Following as I found a used Panamera cabinet and not sure if the Taycan Charger Plus will fit or not.

I think @PDACPA is correct. If the window sticker says Mobile Charger Connect, you should pick option 3, Mobile Charger Connect. The Plus is what comes standard when the car isn’t optioned with the PMCC and I think the other one was for earlier hybrids.

I’ll also mention that a number of people on the forum have heat issues with the PMCC. Sticking it in that dock contributes to the heat issues. I would reconsider purchasing the dock.

You may want to think twice about buying the Porsche charger box. I have one for my PMCC. It looks cool and offers a convenient way to wrap the charging cable out of sight, but in the summer the PMCC overheats if I keep the box’ lid closed, so I need to charge with the lid open which kind of ruins the cool factor….

Thanks, if anyone knows the part number for Porsche Mobile Charger Connect PMCC (Version 3) cabinet, that would great.

I'm reading all these overheating issues and was unaware of that.

I just wish the aftermarket options looked just as nice...

Ideally, I'd leave the PMCC for traveling and have a "better" (non-Porsche) home charging setup like the ClipperCreek.

You have option 3. There is only a single choice - Part number is probably - 7PP 915 706 A

They are all the same shape and dimensions apart from the Porsche Mobile Charger (PMC / PMC+) which is shallower (not as deep) than the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (PMCC).

Depending on country and when the PMCC was sourced there are multiple models (all look the same) but differ in power handling capability - 7.2kW up to 22kW.

PMCC 7.2kW to 22kW - Part - 9YO.971.675.BE / BG / BJ (there may be others). I got the /BJ PMCC with my car (Nov'20).

PMC+ 9.6kW - Part - PMCPU96A

PMC - 3.6kW - Part - 7PP.971.675.AA and 9YO.971.675.BA (for e-hybrids typically)
PMC - 9.6kW - Part - 7PP.971.675.AB and 9YO.971.675.BB (for e-hybrids typically)

It looks cool but it runs hot.

Another guy mounted a little battery operated fan inside his to keep it cool and said it works great. Looks Like a PC fan. He said he manually turns it on when charging.

Thanks to all your comments, I'm finding great information via searching.
Porsche Taycan Charging Dock/Station Cabinet - Porsche (7PP-915-706) 1629121870937
In case someone wants to do this, the fan is https://www.amazon.com/Holmes-Personal-Rechargeable-Battery-Operated/dp/B06X999VB2/

Holmes 4" Personal Fan Rechargeable Battery Operated - Black

Has to be manually turned on and off. Looks like the size fits perfect.

1) I don't like how it has to be manually turned on.
2) where does the air go? Looks like you'd have to leave the box open or drill a hole open. I guess you could remove one of those bottom pieces where it connector docks. That little opening where the 25 foot charging cable goes doesn't look big enough.

Ideally, you can get a computer fan and have a cut out with a temperature controller. Maybe the fan can mount where you remove one of the connectors at the bottom since two isn't needed?

https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/...e995-6fa1-439e-b688-9de1e98df965&ref_=ast_bln

Here is the controller for a USB fan:
https://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-CONTROLLER-Thermostat-Controller/dp/B00NG9TSG4?ref_=ast_sto_dp

Can't believe you have to mount it upside down. I did find someone else NOT mount it upside down, they must have a different connector/adapter cord?

Lastly, I found someone who just used a standard outlet (eventually changed to higher voltage):
Porsche Taycan Charging Dock/Station Cabinet - Porsche (7PP-915-706) 1629122685922
Porsche Taycan Charging Dock/Station Cabinet - Porsche (7PP-915-706) 1629122700011
Porsche Taycan Charging Dock/Station Cabinet - Porsche (7PP-915-706) 1629122707434

Please note the cord can be placed through the top of the unit behind the spacer, but you have to put the cord there before you put the unit on the wall as there is no room for the end cord part to fit!

Now I'm wondering if I should just have two chargers. The Porsche one for looks and winter use (car will be stored) - plugged only to a standard outlet (shouldn't overheat - or could just use a 220V outlet and put the voltage/amp down (if I'm saying that right)).

Then purchase this for daily use:
https://store.clippercreek.com/hcs-...39.2047343467.1629121571-289356966.1629121571

And put it right next to it=)

Does anyone have the exterior dimensions of the Porsche Charging Station Cabinet? All the listings have no specifications and my 14-50 is going in a tight location between an exterior wall and cabinet. Thanks

Just amps.

Yeah, forced ventilation will help, but if it were me, I just wouldn’t put it in an enclosure in the first place. You’re just creating a problem to solve.

Not that I really care what anyone else does with their EVSE one way or another. Want to put it in a dock? Put it in a dock. ?‍♂ I just wanted to make people aware of the potential issue in case they weren’t already. ?

Thanks. I was having my 14-50 installed and wanted to make sure I had room. Though they seem scarce on the used market, so I might just hook up the charger and holder it comes with.

I have been charging the 4s for over a year and had only one instance where overheating happened, and that was both during a really hot spell (temps in the 90º+ range for extended time) AND after the car had reached the 85% charge level.

Since this happens so infrequently, I'm not sure it is a real issue. Perhaps someone who lives in Singapore or Miami could weigh in.
