Yesterday I ran into serious issues while trying to charge my 2020 Taycan Turbo at some fast charging stations. At two different Shell stations and one Aral I ran into a "charging error" straight away or after one second of charging. See attached picture. I tried to upload a short movie as well but the file seems too large.

While I was there, other clients had no problem whatsoever to charge their cars at these locations. Finally, at another Shell station 100km further (I was forced to use elsewhere slow charging for several hours before getting there) there was no problem at all and it charged instantly and super fast.

Anyone any idea what could have caused this because now it meant it took me 9 hours to cover 200kms.....

Did you have Direct Charging enabled? If not, some chargers can't complete the handshake.

No, I did not. First time I hear this.
Not relevant to your issue unless you were charging at an AC (slow) EVSE as DC (Direct Current) charging ignores this setting which relates to Direct Charge (ignore timers and profiles).

I think you had a basic comms error between the car and EVSE.

For me, several times DC charging and not having Direct Charging on and my profile still set to my home settings (which charges in the middle of the night), the charger errored out. Just pushing Direct Charging fixed it.

An error that occurred same day at 3 different DC stations and 20 attempts during several hours, including shutting off the car for 30 minutes and then suddenly disappears at DC station nr. 4? Such type of error would turn the car totally unreliable when DC charging is needed. Any idea what can trigger such error?

I would get your DC charge port checked as it could be symptomatic of a pending failure.

You Should not need to set anything for such high power DC charging. Enabling Direct charging is only for AC charging.

Think about people parking their cars and plugging in at. 350 kW charger and then schedule a Charge in the middle of the night. I believe there would be a riot!

Your charge port may have some corrosion on it. Mine did and it got replaced.

Low isolation resistance between high voltage and ground. Exactly what the charger says. You might have a battery, charge port or charge harness issue to give that low isolation reading.

Sounds like its high enough for Porsche to be happy but too low for Shell.

Definitely not a comms error.

Sharing the outcome after visiting the local Porsche dealer. The read out showed indeed all the errors as I experienced them (including exact timings). Conclusion (for now) is that it was a comms error that took a long time to reset. In other words, after the first error occurred, it took several hours and roughly 100 km's (5 hours slow charging) before the car finally overwrote the error and I was able to use the DC port again. All hardware was checked at the dealer, nothing to repair or replace. They hope it doesn't occur anymore....
