Hello all, I just bought a 2022 Turbo S in White. It's fully loaded and had all the options I wanted and white was my third color choice. I'm considering wrapping it with Chalk. I know...it's not a huge change but last 4 cars have been white so I wanted something different.

So here's my question, how does it look when you wrap chalk over white in terms of the insides? The area in red, do they wrap the edge following that seam? Then the area in yellow would remain unwrapped? What about the green area? How far do they take the wrap?

Lastly, any feedback about these options? Which vinyl is closest to Porsche Chalk? The Ivios PPF looks like a great option but I'm guessing it's the most expensive. My local PPF/Tint expert quoted $4500 for a color wrap. That sounds like a reasonable price, right?

Hey Andy, I have the same situation — white Taycan with many options, being not my favorite color — and I was quoted approx $1850 in Europe for a full wrap with 7years lasting foil of any color and $1300 for 10years lasting PPF transparent cover of just the front (bumper, quarterpanels, hood).

Here's the company doing another Taycan, but no details on edges (which also bother me):

I had a color vinyl wrap done to my previous car. I paid $4500 for the wrap, ceramic coating, and PPF wrapping the front carbon bits. As a standard, they will wrap the edges just barely to create a clean line. You can see it where the wrap stops on the underside of my hood in these pics. It's the same for the door jambs:

However, some companies will also wrap your door jambs for an extra charge. The shop I use will wrap door jambs in a fun contrasting pattern as well. Check out this IG clip for an example:

The PPF/Wrap outfit I use told me that white is the hardest to wrap because the edges have to be very accurate to not show any tiny slivers of white paint. Black is the easiest because any thin slivers of paint fall into shadow.

Get colored PPF, not vinyl wrap. Vinyl has been causing issues with the paint.
For a proper wrap, you need to remove parts on the interior, like door panels, in order to fully cover any paint

My local guy said the exact same thing. Although if they miss covering it slightly, since it's chalk, it might not be super noticeable?

Interesting, I haven't heard of issues before, can you elaborate what the issues are?

My friend was one of the first in PPF & wrap business. He won't do vinyl anymore due to damaging paint.
My installer won't do them anymore either because of paint damage. Also will warn customers before removing vinyl wrap.

My friend Recently bought a Ferrari 812 GTS that was wrapped. While removing the vinyl, the edges of the some of the panels had their clear coat damaged.

The solution is colored PPF. It won't damage the paint and gives you full protection from rock chips, scratches. It's a newer technology, so many places won't have it.
I saw the colors and textures. They look more like paint then vinyl

Have you considered a satin PPF on the white instead of a color change? To me, satin white is a striking effect and might give you a better transition into the door frames, etc.

That said, I had a nardo gray RSQ8 I wrapped in satin black, which was a significant contrast when you opened the doors, etc, but after the initial first look I feel like I never noticed it again.

I did stain PPF on my white Tesla Model X and after a few months, I realized that I don't care for it. Oh well...

Really. That’s interesting. Did it get boring? I’m doing my best to hold on to my car for at least 2 years. Thinking a color change from black might be interesting.
