Dead charger for a month & broken loaner(s)

Hey !

A few weeks ago, my Taycan refused to charge on my home charger. Long story short, it needs a new onboard AC 22kW charger, which is on backorder. (1 month delivery)

My dealer had trouble getting me a loaner car. After waiting a few days, they got me a Panamera, but one of the wheels was punctured (got a nice pressure warning the next morning). They immediately replaced it with a Taycan.. whose air conditioning broke down a few days ago.

My new onboard AC charger is expected to arrive next week, and the dealer has no other loaner available right now (they're not sure to have one by the end of the week either). Currently stuck with a Taycan without AC (which is great, as we litterally are in the middle of a heat wave here in France).

I am curious to know if some of you have already encountered similar situations, and if it was possible to get compensation from Porsche (and not from the dealership, which does not really have any obligation) ?

I'll have to change the tires of the Taycan very soon, a small "contribution" from Porsche France as an excuse would be welcome.. But maybe I'm overthinking it

There is a permanent fix for the 22kW AC charger error – hopefully your new unit will have it or they'll patch the car as part of the install.

Yep, the dealer told me about the patch.. They were supposed to call my Taycan for the update a few days later.. They said they'll apply the update to the new charger if it's not already patched in the factory.

I've just read your thread.. I wish they'd tried DC charging (my dealer has some official Porsche DC Fast charger).. Pretty sure it would have worked (I didn't had any error message inside the car).. I probably could have kept the Taycan and drove it in the meantime

DC worked for me during first failure (when I didn't get an error message in car); failed on the two other failures (when I did have message in car).

The AC charger seems to fail in a few different ways. I'm still waiting for the patch to show up for my car – do post here how you get on.

I had a replacement 22kw OBC in April when the car was in for other work and the dealer spotted the incipient failure. Had the software update done a few weeks ago. 2 days after that, the 22kw OBC blew completely and the car wouldn’t go into drive or reverse.

Getting the car out of the driveway and on to the tow truck was a Herculean effort to say the very least. My local OPC (Norwich) were brilliant. Porsche Assistance a bit less so, shall we say, but have been very good at post-incident service recovery.
