Got an email yesterday from my company lease firm that my car is now delayed a month until late June, was expecting this with the Zuffenhausen production pause. Company lease must be bottom of the Porsche priority pile! Ordered in May 21, originally Dec 21 delivery, then Feb 22, then May 22 now June 22. If I wasn't so far in I'd bin it. Meh.

Pleased with the new car and the spec I went for. Thankfully, this one works! Yet to really drive it, since it’s been receiving PPF this week.

I’ve had Mission E wheels on both my Taycan’s but have only covered 2000 miles collectively across the pair. Hence, couldn’t really gauge tyre wear. Like every car, it depends how you drive it. I believe average tyre life on a 911 is around 6k miles. However, my last set of boots on my 911 lasted 38k miles!

I’d expect a little more tyre wear than average given the weight of the car being well over 2,000kg and the torque being so high. The greater influence is definitely how the car is driven.

Really please you happy with it and think we was lucky with matrix light etc

Only driven 400 miles in mine its my first Porsche and love it better than any of my other mid life crisis cars I have bought .Regarding tyres I also have 21 inch design wheels and agree its how you drive them would you advise always going to Dealer for the changes etc or buy elsewhere store and get local garage to fit them when needed just don't want Porsche delay saying that they can't get them when its time to change with everything that's going in the world

Glad you’re enjoying your new car!

I’d be surprised if a Porsche dealer would agree to fit tyres not supplied by them. I’d expect a high street tyre merchant to be significantly cheaper. However, would I personally trust them to understand to use lift mode and not make contact with the battery when lifting the car etc? No. There’s a reason why you don’t see many £100k cars at such places. I’d rather pay more and know people fitting the tyres on my Taycan had experience of replacing wheels on Taycans.

Thoughts are purely my own and I acknowledge other people will differ in opinion. I also recognise some tyre merchants know exactly how to handle a car like a Taycan. However, I also imagine many would plunder on regardless and deny all knowledge when they’ve neither used lift mode or the right jack points and done a heap of damage to your car, the cost of which will far exceed any saving vs a Porsche main dealer.

Why are lease companies etc the bottom of the pile for allocations/delivery speed etc? Is it because they demand discounts or something else? I'd have thought they'd be a good customer (i.e. they buy lots of cars).

Noted and with hindsight completely agree was just was thinking of back up plan more than cost saving thanks for reply

I don't know how accurate it is but I was told its about margins. Porsche make better margins with direct customers than with the lease companies. I have no idea what that alleged % increase is but it makes sense. Anyways it is what it is. I'm beyond throwing the toys out of the pram now. I'll just sit and wait and occasional moan :D ?

Purely guesswork on my part, but I also assume a lot of private buyers use Porsche finance in one form or another.
There would be significant extra profit there I would guess.

My build date has been pushed from 11/03 to 14/04 but this is all guess work - the dealer says they are told nothing by the factory/head office and just have to check individual cars. They did say that they have seen some builds get pushed out and then brought back in, so we shall see. I would be interested to hear from anyone that has had their date brought back in.

Just had the dreaded call from Porsche Wolverhampton to say all model builds have been suspended due to issue of the wiring looms being manufactured in Ukraine.

They are expecting this pause to be upto 6 months roughly till they can find an alternative supplier. Factor in the 12 month original delay that results in an 18 month wait !

Thanks for the info. My original TYD (Track Your Dream) date was May 12, 2022, and today it says June 9. I suspect delays here in the USA will be longer than Europe.

I have emailed Hatfield to try and corroborate. Mine was supposed to be built last month (having waited 6 months already). Add a new 6 months to that...I think you keep the original build and buy used for a while? Or indeed an alternative. Obviously this is a first world problem.
