I plugged in at an Ionity charging facility with charge level in the 30 - 40 % range and left the car charging. Whilst away I checked progress and saw that the car had stopped charging at 56% because of an error. On returning to the car I was unable to unplug the charging cable to attempt a new session. Ionity helpline helped me disconnect the car but on plugging in again the car would not charge and Ionity said the problem was with the car. This was confirmed when I accessed the car's charge screen which showed red. I then called Porsche breakdown service which arrived without too much delay and they managed to get me charging again. Whilst waiting I had considered powering down the car to see if the fault would have gone on powering up. However I felt it best to leave it for the breakdown service to diagnose the fault. I don't have an explanation for the failure but find it very disconcerting. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and do they have an explanation?

Probably just a communications error between car and evse..

I would have powered the car off, locked it and left for 5 mins before trying again.

Putting the car in drive can sometimes release a locked connector.
