Hi all,

New member here and really want to be a new owner of a Taycan :)

Currently drive Tesla Model Y LR AWD and am looking to replace it with a used Taycan (preferably 4S). Currently I am scowering for a used one with price within my budget (around 75k EUR, new price 134k) and from what I have seen locally here in Germany its pretty much down to 2020 4S with decent equipment or 2021/2022 4S with lower level of equip.

I found this config few days ago and wanted to get your feedback on it and its price which is around 70k:
- Porsche Code - PR79PK52
- 62k KM on the clock
- Assuming 60k service has been done, but not confirmed by the dealer yet

I am a big fan of the driving dynamics of the Porsche and really miss this on my Tesla (previously had a Bi-Turbo Passat which was halfway in-between the dynamics of a Tesla and a Porsche).

Things I would love to have on the Taycan:
- PB+
- at least ACC with LaneKeeping (for those long drives)
- Heatpump
- parking sensors with at least RearCamera

Bonuses would be:
- LED-Matrix lights
- Noise & Heat insulated glass
- Rear Wheel Steering

Looking here for your thoughts on the mentioned config above and maybe a question - do you think it makes sense to go with 2020 4S or limit to 2022 4S and reduce the level of equipment.

Also I‘ve seen some Taycan Turbos for as low as 78k (2020, 60k KM, new price 177k, Porsche Code PRL8B5B3) but without ACC/LaneKeeping specced and am wondering on your thoughts on choosing the Turbo vs 4S if the price is within 3-5k difference but is lacking thins like driving automation… Any idea if adding ACC sensors and HW is actualluy douable and plausible on specs that did not have them out of the factory, eg. Does it make even sense technically and financially?

Thanks a lot!

I owned a 2020 turbo and now own a 2023 GTS . Not much difference between the cars. PB plus in any Taycan is a must . RWS is nice but not a biggie . Turbo had it and GTS does not - don’t really miss it. I am a big fan of ACC in all cars but the LKA in Taycans is not very good so not a must have in my book. 2020 Turbo all else equal or even a few dollars more would be my choice.

You mean purely from the speed and acceleration perspective or whole package overall? If I understood some other threads I read on here 2020 models get the same updates as 21/22/23 models only at one point you had to drive the 2020 to the dealership to update and now if the PCM is already up-to-date it can still receive OTA updates?

The only issues with an older model I guess would be:
- potential battery degradation (which can be checked)
- mileage
- physical condition of the interior?

Extra performance was a plus but my decision was made at looking at the whole package itself. In the US in 2020 the turbo had many options as standard equipment on the turbo but optional on 4S and lower models. For example -full leather , alacantra headliner, matrix lighting, air suspension, performance differential, ceramic coated (not full ceramic) brakes , bigger wheels , noise insulated glass, 14 way seats, Bose sound upgrade were standard on the Turbo but optional on the 4S. When I bought my 2020 the turbo was about 50k more than the 4S but if figured it had at least 30k of options I would have ordered on a 4s so only about 20k was attributable to the extra performance. You might find a stripped turbo and a heavily optioned 4S are somewhat similar.

Makes sense with the Turbo, and who does not want a faster Taycan ?

Whats your feeling on the PSCB longevity and potential replacement down the line (i figure buying 2020 Turbo for me would be max 4-5 years of ownership)?

Knowing 1,5k eur replacement on my old Passat at around 90k KM with 290mm iron discs just at the front makes me a bit uneasy around PSCB potential replacement - hence the ask.

I would like to know of one case where PSCBs (white caliper standard) needed to be replaced especially on the Taycan where most of the braking is not done by the physical brakes.

Our Macan Turbo iron brakes that were used a lot needed 50k miles to call for pads and rotors.

Our Cayenne has 40k miles with PSCBs is not even close to service since these last longer than iron kind. To be clear PSCBs are iron coated in the carbide that generate almost no brake dust amd in my case have no brake dust at all since I ceramic coat them with wheels off, so any visible dust or dirt washes off super easy.

I cannot see Taycan needing service before it crosses 100k miles.

Your best bet is to get a quote in your area from a reputable dealer so you have the order of magnitide reference but it will not be cheap.

Dynamically both are pretty much the same but if you need more range the 4S is better, if you need faster acceleration its Turbo.
ACC was a must for me only because it prevents accidents when someone in front breaks hard. It saved me a couple times.
If you plan to keep it 3-4 years I'd get a 2022 version with options, battery is newer so less degradation and there might be some hardware improvements.
