Has London Congestion Charge Changed ?

When I enter my vehicles registration details it says I don’t have to pay ULEZ but do have to pay the congestion charge.
I was under the impression that it was still current free for EV’s ?

have you registered congestion charge exemption on the tfl site? Cost is £10 to cover admin advised on website

It is 100% discounted for EV’s, not free…there’s a difference as you have to apply for the discount through the TFL website as the Cleaner Vehicles Discount with an admin fee as 4suser has stated

The Cleaner Vehicle Discount is still in place. It is being withdrawn on 25 December 2025.

I used it once but I’ll renew this on 24th December this year just in case i need it… although the amazing value on Westminster EV parking has been withdrawn (4 hours for 20 mins cost!)…

I have had a similar problem. When I register and tried to pay my £10 for the Congestion Charge for an electric car they taken says that it is in eligible for this cleaner vehicle discount. I have now raised this with TfL and I’m waiting for an answer.

That 'trick' may not work to get an extra year free - as it did with the EV vehicle tax increases this year.

I think TFL may have cottoned on / December is a hard deadline / no tapering...

Of course. I renewed on 24/12 and so have a full year of use until December 25, 2025. Any renewals now i imagine will have a hard stop. I've only used it once anyway!

Just tried to get another EV on my account setup now. As it's not (yet) gone through DVLA registration by the dealer, it fails their lookup.

As before, it also wants a photo of the V5 pages which I wont get for at least a week until after the car arrives.

In case this helps others: the discount IS still available for £10. When I tried to register, however, it kept saying that I was NOT eligible and therefore it would not take my £10.

After many emails and calls, this turned out to be a problem with my card - not clear why I got the 'not eligible' message BEFORE I even tried to pay, but the v helpful Tfl person on phone said to ignore that, use another card and pay. That has now gone through in the usual way and I wait for the confirmation that I have been granted the discount (takes up to 10 days). Phew.
