Hi folks I've posted about this before but hope you can help.

I have plugged my car into 7kw wallbox at home with new cable from Porsche. Only charges at 4.44kw.

Porsche Centre brought round another Taycan. Plugged in that car using my cable AND theirs...both still at 4.4kw

Salesman plugged in their Taycan at HIS house > still showing 4.4 kw

That to me is a clear indication that the Taycan using Porsche cables does NOT charge at 7kw on a slow charger.
When I used an Audi charger, I could charge my car at 7kw?!

Are there 2 grades of Type 2 cable supplied by Porsche?
TIA

Are you using the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus box (it is standard equipment)? I recently found that it was showing "50%". Holding down the button made it "100%". I wonder if this might help (or not).

I only have Porsche supplied cables - 7.4kW 100% all the time.

Did either you or the salesman try with a Porsche charger - PMC+ or PMCC - if not then i could be a compatibility issue or as pointed out if using PMC+ then it was set to 50% rather than 100%?

Hi. No this is using a type 2 cable supplied by Porsche into a wallbox. I have the PMC but I only have 3 pin capability for that as I only have 1 phase supply

Hi W1NGE
The PMC only have a 3 pin connector or a commando socket so won't fit the 7kn wallbox

I would ask an electrician to review your installation and use the correct supply (32A) and cables to ensure you get the max from what you have - even if that means mounting your PMC in place of what you have. It's all fixable to my mind.

3 pin as in a regular 13A plug?

Single phase doesn't mean you can't have a different connector - 32A will give you 7.4kW, no question.

Definitely a 32A breaker in the consumer board

Ok so the 3 pin is for emergency or travel use only.

The other supply cable that came with the PMC is the one you need to focus on so that it can be connected to the PMC and the termination point of your 32A supply. If the socket to do this isn't compatible then that's what needs to be swapped out - by an electrician.

Some pictures of what you have - PMC, cables and where it would connect to your supply socket would help.

Also can you clarify if you have the Porsche Mobile Charger, Porsche Mobile Charger Plus or Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (my assumption is Porsche Mobile Charge Plus)?

PMC+ - Supply Cable (A in the diagram) Options - you need 32A (6) - if feasible - if you use the 16A then you will be limited to 3.7kW regardless of charger.

Problem resolved. Porsche dealership have now admitted(after me doing the diagnosis!) the cable supplied is only rated at 16A instead of 32A. The next battle is getting a 32A rated one....supply issues due to Brexit/pandemic/chip supply/the colour of the sky today ?....I've been waiting over 3 weeks for a cracked windscreen(on the INSIDE!) that's being replaced under warranty....apparently there's a shortage of glass too....?‍♂

Had to be as we discussed.

Glad you got a fix.

I would source a 3rd party cable and send them the bill to cover their incompetence or use one from their demonstrator.
