Hello fellow taycan owners,

The last couple of days I noticed a new “sound” in my Taycan 4S. When driving on highway at high speed (above 130 km/h) and then lift off the accelerator i get a rumble/humming sound from what seems to be the motors..

When i enable re-gen, the sound go away, if I press the brake, the sound goes away, if i accelerate, the sound goes away…

It’s not a scrubbing or “mechanical” sound (my wife barely noticed it) - but I hear it, and i also feel it in the steering wheel as a very minor rattle..

When driving slower (80-90 km/h) there is no sound and rattle - only when going at high speeds..

Have any of you guys any similar experience..

My Taycan is a MY21, 43.000 km on the odometer, performance battery + and got all the software updates installed.

You sure it not road noise from the tires? The are pretty audible in these cars as they are quiet as EV’s and even more quiet with the noise insulated glass.

Yes totally sure - (i do have the insulated glass)

why would the sound go away when i just barely touch the accelerator (just keeping the same speed).. If it was tires, the sound would be constant - also when motors were engaged..

I have the same thing when at 150kmh I lift my feet off. It is like a very subtle vibration and light grinding noise. It is like the gearing is in free wheel. It is only noticeable on very good road and if you are on a slight descending slope. As soon you push a bit the accelerator the noise goes away. I think it is because the gearbox is in free wheel. At first I tough I had a bended wheel.
Bottom line I think is it normal. Just push the accelerator and it goes away.

Possibly the motors are waiting to re-engage from coasting and are not fully idle.

hey there,
i just noriced this today in my ‘22 RWD PB+ 70k km.
Like a grinding rumble….was worried it’s the gearbox. Just passed on the warranty extension ?
Same experience; re-accelerate, regen, under 100km/h it goes away…
how did it develop for you?
Cheers from Germany ??
