Just did my first launch control last night.... so glad I bought this awesome car. :)

Then I wondered, if Teslas have a sweet spot battery temperature for max launch power, why or why doesn't it matter for Taycans? Or perhaps, if it does matter, but Porsche just downplays the dependency?

Battery temp changes the resistance of the cells. The sweet spot is where the resistance is the lowest allowing for maximum current (amperage) flow. Voltage isn’t impacted, and as such, Porsche has an advantage over Tesla using 800 volts vs. 400 volts: The battery can meet the maximum wattage demand of the inverters and motors at lower SOCs and at lower temperatures compared to Tesla.

Temperature will still come into play, just later than it would in a Tesla. For this reason I believe sport+ does enable pack heating.

I have not seen a battery temperature stated for optimal launch control, but they do state the optimum temperature for battery performance is 25-30 C. The battery pack will also be conditioned when Launch Control is selected. There are tests out there of repeated Launch Controls with little or no degradation in performance. The cost is reduced range and prolonged high battery temperatures cause adverse chemical reactions which shorten battery life.

The indicated optimum temperature for service life is around 20C.

There are a couple of Porsche publications that bear on these issues.

It's a remarkable good question ...

if the car is charging it is always warm
I would recommend to repeat launch control until you get the right temperature if you are not sure
tyres will be a good temperature also !
