In-car purchase ?

Hi guys,

When I ordered my Taycan 4S, my dealer told me there will be some "in-car purchase", exactly like Tesla does.
He told me 2 features could be purchased like an in-app purchase OR rented for a few hours : Porsche Intelligent Range Manager & Heat Seat.

Have you heard something like that?

Yes I heard Comfort Access and Range Manager should be OTA installed..

Thanks to Over-the-Air Technology (OTA), software updates are possible even after the vehicle has been purchased, and individual vehicle functions can also be made available for a specific period of time (Functions on Demand). The following functions are available for the Taycan launch:

No idea BenJL, it's purely a lift and shift from the press pack.

It wouldn't surprise me if that functionality is delayed as lots of other aspects are missing from launch

Just to add though, I had looked at pricing on Porsche site to add Intelligent Range Manager for example and it was about 25% more than getting in initial configuration.
This is common for T* also, but may want you to consider pre-adding what may be of interest.

When I tried to “buy” Porsche Intelligent Range Manager online, for my Taycan Turbo it said it wasn’t available. No other explanation of why.

I assume that this relates to the Tesla upgrades like Autopilot, Full Self Driving, Model 3 performance upgrade, and premium connection for Model 3s? In all cases the hardware is already installed but you pay to have software enabled. I imagine that in the Taycan, "Intelligent Range Manager" may utilise real traffic information and charging fees hence why there might be cost associated with it? I am not convinced that an "Intelligent Range Manager" will work that well in the UK as we don't yet have a mature fast network like Ionity installed yet. For those who have not owned an EV before, long distance trips are perfectly doable, but require a little planning beforehand if you want them to be effortless. I am certain that we will have initial charging issues with some of our older chargers as all of the other makes have done. All get sorted out with software upgrades so it will be great to see Porsche make use of OTA updates instead of taking them in to the garage like IPace owners have had to do recently.
