I was hit by a rock kicked up by a semi-truck last weekend which has cracked the front windshield of the 2025 Taycan. My insurance company's provider says that they must order the OEM replacement from Italy, which can take up to two months (!). No other (non-OEM) version of the windshield is available, even if I wanted another brand. Called the dealership and they have no stock and say that nationally nor Germany has any stock they can order. I am really shocked that there is no inventory, anywhere, for a replacement windshield. Has anyone else run into this issue or know how to get a replacement more quickly?

Did you consider getting Safelite to glue the crack to keep it from spreading larger?

Not yet. Right now I am trying to get this set up as expeditiously as possible so I do not have to drive for two months with a large crack on the driver's side or drive another car, which is a major downgrade from my 4S. This is going to take three separate appointments to restore my status quo -- one with Safelite for the windshield replacement; one at the dealership (which is ~40 miles away) for calibration; and one to apply clear UV protection tint to the new windshield. So waiting two months just for the privilege of attending all these appointments was not what I was hoping for! At least my car is drivable, but I am perturbed that Porsche would not have *any* 2025 windshields in stock in the U.S. (or, I was told, in Germany either) available to be ordered by the dealerships. Hot tip for the day -- don't let a rock hit your windshield!!

It’s because dealers are proactively replacing the windshield molding on some cars which means they have to change entire windshield that’s why there is a shortage.

The rubber molding around the windshield is starting to degrading on some cars, to tell you the truth it looked fine to me

Thank you -- that is very interesting. I was unaware this larger effort to replace windshields proactively was underway. That does explain why there would be so few to be had.

In the "good news department," I did some additional outreach to Porsche and they were able to locate and ship a windshield from Texas to my dealership in Florida immediately, instead of waiting 8 weeks for an OEM to be shipped from Italy. The new windshield is being installed today!
