I just did a quick search of new base level Taycan and Taycan CTs on cars.com - almost 60 are listed. Ask the dealer if the Taycan is still available, and then ask if they are willing to sell the car as if it was in your home state to avoid excessive sales tax. You'll have to pay for shipping. I've spoken to a lot of dealerships in Southern California and no one is selling at MSRP as they expect allocations to be very limited the rest of the year.

There’s no need to have it sold in your home state to avoid tax, as you can get credit for taxes paid elsewhere if the dealer insists on collecting taxes in their state.

You and I heard the same thing, but @Archimedes is bringing a different perspective/experience for the OP (@ac360 ) to consider. That's what makes this forum so great.

@ac360 , once you find the right Taycan talk with the dealer about how sales taxes are handled. There will be some add-ons for consideration (like wheel and tire protection), so review those threads on this forum as well. And some dealers are adding mark-ups to the price, so get clear communication on that as well because some dealers and/or states are greedier than others. Good luck!

There are three ways it can go. First, they sell it to you with the MSO and you take that to your local DMV and pay the tax. I've done that, though it's not common anymore, as I think the laws have changed in many states that make that unpalatable. Second, the dealer collects your state taxes and does all the paperwork for you, including paying that tax to your state. This is usually the easiest path, but it typically requires that the dealer have a sister dealership in your state that can handle the paperwork. I've done this as well, though it turned into a bit of a nightmare with the sister dealer not handling it properly. The third is that the dealer collects sales tax in their state, but when you register the car in your state, you get credit for the taxes paid in the other state and that other state transfers them to your state.

You should never be paying double tax unless someone screws something up.

I ordered mine at Champion Motorsports. No "market adjustment" I gave my build link to the sales person, paid a deposit and placed the order. looking to be delivered end of september if nothing changes, i've seen changed on the final date from end of august, to mid sep, to end of oct, now is back to end of sep.
