Charged my car in a DFW garage once and the fan went crazy. I thought there was something wrong. Turned out that the garage was so hot that the car needed to cool down. I’ve since just charged my car overnight and I haven’t had experienced that level of fan activity since.

For the past couple of weeks the fan near the passenger front wheel has become super loud when charging at home. Not only that, the garage feels like I’m inside a convection oven because it gets extremely hot, to the point where I’m not charging at home because I’m worried what the heat will do to this confined space. Anyone else noticed this? I’m considering installing a mini split but that’s at least 1-2 weeks away.

I live in the DFW area as well (Granbury). Have had my 4S since 2021 and my car consistently turns the cooling fans during charging on, in the summer, particularly after a drive when the temps are 90 or so. Sounds like the car is preparing to take off. Has done this every summer since purchase. I consider it normal and am reassured when they do turn on as debris has not clogged up the intake or the fans. Hope this helps.

For this and the past four summers here in the Phoenix area, my 2022 RWD has loud fan noise. The temperature in my un-air-conditioned garage is always above 104 °F (40 °C). I charge at 4.4 kW from 9 AM to 3 PM when my solar panels are generating 5+ kW. The fan is trying to keep the battery cool, and the fan stops when I unplug the charging cable. The fan will sometimes run at a lower speed, too, when I'm not charging.

I live in Dallas and have been experiencing the same exact thing during our heatwave. I’ve been leaving my garage door open during charging since my garage is in the rear of my house and fenced in (safety). I have also recently experienced my A/C blowing barely cool air after charging or after being parked outside in the hot temps. The only way I’ve been able to fix it is to stop the car, power it off, lock the doors, unlock the doors, and start it again. I’m assuming the battery hot enough that the cooling system is prioritizing the battery over the A/C. I need to take it in to find if this is normal since my warranty is up in a couple months.
Warranty up in a couple of months?

Please read the threads in this forum on how to get an extended warranty. It will be cheaper if you do it before your warranty expires.

Mine does this exact behavior, I’ve noticed, especially when I come in after commuting from work. It’s a toasty “107 but feels like 110” near Austin, and I know I’ll hear the fans after going out.
