Have you any idea why?
The sound-bite version that resonates best with me is "it's charger availability anxiety, not range anxiety". I presume everybody has had that nervous feeling of being in a remote location and trying to remember how big the fuel reserve is when the gauge needle nears the red. I figure that would be much more intense and frequent of an occurrence if one is needing a public DCFC station as opposed to a gas station, simply due to the relative availability of the two.

Another review of Lucid dropped today and it lost me at the long paragraph of never-ending reliability issues on a 2023 model that the journalist is reviewing. I am not really sure who is this car for to justify making it and losing as another recent article pointed out $430k on each. One thing the article makes clear, it is a great place to be in at stand still, all the legroom and amenities, wow.

I am in a 2023 Taycan and 2k miles with zero issues and lost count of smiles and stares.

Nogas - if you read my posts- I said I got tons of compliments on the lucid and acknowledged that it was superior to the Taycan in many ways - range , space functionality , comfort. but the car had too many things that didn’t work and couldn’t be fixed. I had an early build - my mistake- and that may be part of it , but it does not excuse the fact that the car was not ready for prime time 6 months after launch. By analogy would you want to stay married to an attractive woman if she was constantly complaining ? That was my experience with my lucid. Hopefully newer buyers will fare better. I also worried about the PIF losing so much money that lucid goes bust and I’m totally out in the cold. Part of my reason for selling my lucid was a memory of my father who bought a car in the 90’s called a sterling - it was a JV between Honda and rover. Honda engines and drivetrain and Rover coach work and interior. The car looked like a Rolls Royce interior (Connelly leather, etc) for a bargain price and the Honda hi performance engine promised performance and reliability. The sterling was a reliability nightmare and .two years later the company went bust and their used cars were selling for 15 cents on the dollar.

Unfortunately, per my post just above, even with the 2023, they still have a lot of issues that are unacceptable for the price point and maturity of the model. However, as my Porsche dealer said, when first Taycans came in, yes, the customers experienced a lot of issues as early adopters, but they get a cool new gadget to drive, show, and play with. The good news is that Porsche has been working to resolve the issues and so far on my 2023 everything works as expected :fingerscrossed:.

I‘m not worried about Lucid going bankrupt. They just expanded to a 4 million sq foot factory and PIF has billions more they can throw at it as they establish EV manufacturing in Saudi. It’s the BMW M5 of EV’s. The EV that BMW should have built but couldn’t.

New Taycan seems to have better range., good for Taycan fans! Hope they now give OTA updates instead of having to take it to the dealership every time.
