Macsafe charging at the Center Console

I tried to turn the empty space in the center console into a charging area by using a MagSafe mount, but it didn’t work. What’s interesting is that it charges perfectly when I plug in a regular charging cable.


What’s the difference? Why doesn’t the MagSafe mount work?

If you are talking about the USB in the console, I found that to be sub-optimal and instead run a cord to the back of the console ... between the rear seats. There are several pretty good examples of magsafe charging 'stands' being installed in the cupholders on the forum. Some took the console apart while others just threaded cables to charging ports.

Search the forums for "Magsafe Charger" or simply Google it. There are a few decent commercial options. I bought the Nine Volt model here and like it a lot. It's not perfect, and I've lost a cupholder, but that's the price for easy phone access....

Thanks for the tip. As far as I know the charging speed of the rear seat console is more slow than the front one.

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but not all Magsafe mounts are also chargers.

Does your Magsafe mount have a place to plug in the USB-C cable?

The MagSafe chargers I tested were all an integrated type where the USB-C cable cannot be detached.
