Hello,

Couldn’t seem to get a definitive answer.

I currently have MY2022 Taycan 4S CT and on the fence about getting a new 2025 now. However, I’m not sure if what I’m reading about the PCM upgrades are accurate.

Firstly, is the 2025 faster than the previous years?

And secondly, is the 2026 even faster than the 2025?

I am referring mainly about performance and response time when selecting, opening apps and navigating around on the infotainment.

Anyone know?

I find that my 2022 PCM is slightly laggy, and that if the 2025 is the exact same, I may opt to wait for a 2026 should it be faster.

Thank you!

PCM is the same (Cariad), but the software is newer since some new features have been introduced, and I would argue more bloated as a result. Please keep in mind that it seems logical that newer years will get better PCM hardware (may be faster chips or more memory), however, the software that runs on them needs a lot of testing and certification, so it is unlikely that any significant hardware change has happened to make it faster. I found no significant difference in operating a PCM on a 2025 vs. my 2023 and prefer my 2023 since to me it is more logical and cleaner than the redesign intended to match Macan EV. Macan EV uses completely different PCM and software platform (Android Automotive) and I did not like it when I drove one and I did not find it any faster, because it is like a bloated Android phone with backgrounds, animations, deep menu levels, etc. that do not make it faster or easier to use.

I completely disagree with SergeyIndy

While they all have same hardware, in terms of PCM, they run more optimized software.

So yes, 2025 has faster interfaces, and 2026 even faster. They also bring new features, such as functioning charger provider filters, more intuitive charging profiles, much much much faster route planning, video playback, and in general much faster.

my20-24 run 3882 software version, while my25 runs 4360, and my26 runs 4578.

Porsche is refusing to update software in older cars despite having same hardware running the software, so they themselves think it’s a big enough difference to try to force people to “upgrade” newer MY.

However, I would never again buy a new Taycan, deprecation is insane. Buy a used MY25 or used MY26.

Thanks! So the 2025 is faster than previous years, but 2026 even more so. I’m assuming the 2025 and 2026 have minor speed differences?

My main concern was that I had read some sources alleging that the 2026 may have gotten increased RAM and CPU. Is this false?

And yes, I am fully aware of the depreciation. It would be a lease rather than a purchase. The dealer is offering me considerable discount and depreciation was my main argument

2026 has a new chip for Dolby atmos audio; which 2025 doesn’t have - not sure if it’s in the PCM enclosure or not.

Anything else PCM related is the same, as they stock same part number for replacement for all manufacturing years - at least in Switzerland, where I know for sure.

Also in PIWIS you can see that version 4578 of PCM software (shipped on MY26) is also compatible with MY20 cars. Sadly porsche refuses to do software updates to the PCM

The speed difference between my25 and my26 is minimal indeed; most noticible in the route planner.
