Hi Guys,

I'm currently driving a BMW 330e and looking for an upgrade.
Porsche Taycan came in as top in my consideration list.
However after going for a test drive, I was somewhat disappointed and I need help in deciding if this car is the right one for me.

I'm looking for a car that is quiet, comfortable and cool looking.
On its look, there's no question on that, Taycan definitely ticks the box.

Now it comes to quietness and comfort of the car.
During my test drive, I realise that the car's electric motor is quite loud.
Initially I thought that the sports sound was turned on, but it was not.
Comparing to 330e, 330e is close to silent during electric drive, you could only hear some minor hissing noise.
But for Taycan, it's loud when it accelerates and even louder when breaking.
Probably due to a much bigger electric motor?
I heard from others saying that Tesla Model S is close to silent, but I don't trust Tesla's built quality.
Is that the true noise coming from the car, or it was augmented by the speaker?
Can it be turned off totally?

As for comfort, with PASM option, do you guys think Taycan can be as comfortable as an E class or 5 series?
There's not much time during my test drive and the road was pretty even.

Thanks!

Not many folk find the Taycan noisy normally the opposite is true.

Comfort - only a Merc S class or Roller or Bentley would be better.

PASM relates to the shock absorbers only (standard on all cars). Air suspension is a separate option and includes PASM. Air suspension works really well and you should have no issue with it or the ride.

Which Taycan variant did you try?

I tried the base Taycan and it came with Air suspension.
Probably I'm over particular about the noise.
Thanks for your reply mate.

Without insulated glass. No glass roof as well.
Not so worried about the outside noise yet, but the noise coming from the motors.

Well, I don’t know…when I tested base taycan, i was impressed with silence….and Imliked the ”noise” during acceleration, during braking…. Sound of space ship
Now, I have CT4 and I don[t hear anything…not because of insulated glasses, but because of Bose:rock:

Every person I've ever driven in my car has commented on how quiet the car is. I don't have sport sound.

Yes you can hear the motors humming, esp at lower speeds but doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I think it would be weird and disconnecting to have no sound at all. You've probably just gotten used to the BMW's hum and now tune it out subconsciously.

You said yourself that you were disappointed, so no, the car isn't for you. Don't overthink it. Great car but that doesn't mean it's for everyone! The options make a little difference here and there but a Taycan is still going to be a Taycan.

Indeed, an taycan ct drives smootly and without almost no noise. The Bentley is more a saloon, quiet but you can’t compare them. I love them both.

Could also be the tires, or pressure of tires.

Thanks for all input. Went ahead with the deposit already :)
Still dislike the breaking noise.
Ride quality is good, but the car is on 19inch rim, hopefully 20inch rim will still be good.
