Hello all,

I got my new Taycan 4 CT last week and thought I would share my initial thoughts to help those thinking about one.

Spec is pretty basic – Volcano grey with the Turbo S wheels, 4+1, Boose sound system, Ambient lighting and driver memory package, privacy glass.
I am very happy with the car, although I have some regrets and observations (as always with a new car!!)

My old car was an Audi A4 S – line, and I do miss some of the things that car had that the Taycan does not:

  • No ‘puddle’ lighting – the Audi had lights from the door handles that were very useful at night, there is nothing on the Taycan unless you open the doors
  • The sound system control in the Audi were much more ergonomic (radio stations, sound etc)
Some observations

  • I did not realise electric mirrors were an option or I would have ordered them
  • I went for black seats, the cockpit is very dark, different inlays would have helped
  • Car is quick – obviously!
  • Boot is a good size and a useful shape
  • Car is very wide, wider than I imagined
  • Ride and comfort are brilliant
  • Ordered in April, got it end of Nov
  • Swapped mobile charger for a type 3 lead, regret this as the lead is only £200 and the charger is £1000+
  • Disappointed by the fast charging – used a number of 350kW & 150kW chargers, power seems to range between 32kW and 60kW (it was a cold day)
  • I keep getting random message from the app that my climate control has been reached, I don’t know why (I am not telling it to do anything)
  • Glad a I didn’t spec the sound option
  • There is an annoying overhead light in the front that I can’t turn off, black tape required I think
  • Defiantly think the CT looks much better than the saloon when seeing both side by side
  • The big screen in the centre seems to be a big waste of space – all that room for simply Air Con and the touchpad that is hard work? I wish I could control the sound system from there something other that the climate control and the boot!

Puddle lights in the door mirrors (when electric folding optioned) and in addition you can get a garish PORSCHE led projection from the underside of the front doors if you desire.

Sounds - you can say 'Hey Porsche' (or Siri, if configured) to do a lot of this stuff plus you get options on the rightmost tube on the dashboard - select Media and then press the thumbwheel in for options (as per other displays / menus) - might help.

Not much help now but yep, Pano roof is almost essential (with any interior).

Car comes with Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (11kW - PMC+) - it is much less than £1000 - Porsche Mobile Charge Connect (PMCC - £752 as an option (or was) but more post purchase). Fear not, these are not chargers but Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (the do not manage or charge). Charging is performed by the in-car AC or DC charger. PMC+ or PMCC simply provides the juice to do so. Therefore, you can source any 3rd party device to use as your home EVSE installation which will be £££s cheaper.

Charging speed - what was your battery's SOC before starting to charge? Battery temp etc will impact, check your PCM (Charging...Option...'...' that battery saving fast charging isn't enabled. As your car is so new it may be things will loosen up after 500 miles or so (e.g. regen etc).

Porsche Connect App message - do you have the pre-heat / cool enabled on door unlocking - sounds like so? If so, disable it in PCM as needed.

Pinpoint light - can't remove - I don't notice it but other whinge about it too!

Read the Porsche Good To Know App to understand all that you can do from the central display - there's a lot. Hand writing, volume control (in addition to the buttons provided), fan speed, Park assist functions (3D image selection etc) etc. A lot can also be achieved via 'Hey Porsche' (if enabled) - 'Its hot in here or cold' - heating will adjust' and many more. Also you can adjust brightness and sensitivity of the pad via the PCM which may help with ergonomics.

Either way, enjoy!
