New found proximity warming — under the car!

I was surprised, and then pleased, to discover that the Taycan has an undercarriage proximity warning. I was attempting to park in a commercial garage with a steep entrance off the street. I got a loud beep (as you do when you are parking and get close to something), a bright red horizontal line across the main PCM screen, and a DEAD stop of the car, presumably using the electronic parking brake. The car wouldn’t move! My first experience with this feature, of which I was unaware. I used the control that raises the car suspension and gently backed out. Good to know the car protects its precious HV battery! I checked later. Battery unharmed.

It's probably related to one of the assistance systems depending on what options you may have on your car. I get the tone on a steep incline but nothing else (I don't have additional assistance systems other than 360 park assist). Unlikely to be Manoeuvring Assist (only works in Reverse Drive Mode).

I suppose the steep entrance was upwards?? And then I guess it was the Front sensors?

Or did you get this warning at the entrance going down??

But the display will be as a result of one of the other options.

Either way not by Porsche design...rather a side effect of parking sensors and excitable software.

There is no proximity sensor under the car. The parking sensors are aimed very low to facilitate curb detection in auto park.

You can disable manoeuvre assistant to prevent the car from slamming on the brakes or set up an auto lift point in front of your ramp.
