Anyone done any real world tests on the effect of Sport (or Sport Plus for those with Chrono) vs. Normal in consumption values- assuming your driving style would stay the same for both but taking advantage of the faster response times on Sport and overall sharpness of the chassis?

I did a run yesterday in Sport all the way, first of all it was a blast – the car felt on point just that little bit more sharper than Normal, was a mixture of twisties and some dual carriageways. The accuracy of the PCM on the estimated battery level was 100% accurate on both legs of the trip ~ 80 miles or so, I was impressed.

It did get me thinking though if I was in Normal setup would it have saved any battery level, I suspect not and if it did it would have been negligible perhaps a few % at best if you’re giving it some spirited driving.

Anyone done a specific test on both modes in the same journey/conditions to confirm?

You're right, the difference is negligible only if your right foot behaves when in sport mode.

Only takes an eye test for Turbo in Sports plus while driving aggressive in a Michigan December. Let's just say you can watch the consumption fly off nearly as fast as your launch :)

No real world test but like you I find the sport chassis configuration just right. As low as the center of gravity is, the car still seems to roll just a slight bit into corners with the normal chassis setting. Normal is fine when my wife is in the car since she disapproves of my usual corner approach speed anyway.

Sport vs. normal on the drive mode is mostly is about whether the car uses the lower of the two transmission gears from a standstill. Even in 2nd gear, there is plenty of power (I have a Turbo non-S) and launch control or max non-launch-control acceleration in Sport or Sport+ is a quick control knob rotation away.

Just tried it - 35 miles trip, so 17.5 miles each way. Normal going out used up 9% of the battery, Sports Plus coming back used up 8%. Same driving style both ways, and pretty flat drive. Pretty cold out there (4C/39F). Normal heated the battery from 12C (53.5F) to 14C (57F) on the way out, and Sports Plus heated the battery from 14C (57F) to 21C (70F) on the way back. So...Sports Plus will have used battery to heat the battery up, but the consequence seems to be better range overall as a result of the battery working more efficiently at higher temperatures. Based upon these completely back-of-the-cigarette-pack calculations, and totally unscientific analysis, at least in cold weather, it seems to come out as a wash. Of course, I now have to try it the other way around at some point...
