Most of the above was on my list so that’s great. The outlier was air suspension. I thought that would come in handy in and around town due to all the bleedin speed bumps!
Air yes over Bose.

Andrew, GO FOR IT!
Absolute 100% unequivocal YES!
I don’t think it is too compromised
I put only 9k extras on a 4S.
I absolutely love the crazy 30k extra spec people but there is Sooooo much you dont need.
Here we go…..

For a start White or Black look great and they are free!
Go white as black window trim on 2WD goes well.
Comfort access might be slightly easier but it’s a security risk as if near car and distracted by kids someone can get in your car.
Don’t need that either!
Now you have £1500 to spend on other stuff!

Here is my spec leaving £557 to buy your wife a present so she is even happier you came in under budget.
Chuck it in the configurator and have fun!

I get to £80,005 ?? My view if I had to stick to it:

- £774 - Metallic paint (I love Gentian but if budget constrained I’d go standard white in a heartbeat)
- Partial beige leather to contrast the blue
- £413 - Roof rails in black as it’s practical on an ST and can’t be added post delivery
- £210 - electric folding mirrors
- £1527 - Air suspension because roads tend to be terrible in the UK
- £1524 - Turbo aero wheels as it’s a safe middle cost option and base ones are unbearable to look at
- £1137 - Pan roof, looks cool, transforms the interior making it more airy and light, great fun For the kids, mandatory with rails
- £80 windscreen top tint to blend in with pan roof and avoid to use visors too much
- £354 - privacy glass for style but more importantly kids comfort at the back
- £336 - 4+1 seating should you need it one day

I think comfort access is a bit useless, didn’t spec it on wife’s car and I’m fine pressing a button. But white free paint would cover it if needed!

Like it! (plus the side airbags)

Good grief there is some twaddle on forums of what you need and I just love the response of buy a different car lol. Honestly, you don't NEED any of the options, the car does work without them. Get what makes you happy and how you will use the car.

In my view I'd say I personally would hate to not have the following.

Air suspension - really does give an amazing ride on crappy uk roads.
Auto dim mirrors - pretty cheap and love the convenience
360 parking camera - it is a big car with very poor visibility.

However nice they may be, everything else is a degree of nice to have.

This is a very ... annoying ... family car without a load of options. Battery, Air, Pano, Comfort Package, Storage Package, upgraded Bose, Surround Camera. Its just not a very lux vehicle for the base price. If its your only car I'd strongly steer you away from it. Its a less than stellar solo family car. Get a Cayenne or wait for the Macan Electric.

If its not your only car, then get whatever you want, and the family will likely be joining you less in it.

as a lucky recipient of a keyless entry theft in the past (in central London), I am strongly averse to comfort access. In fact, I actively avoid brands where it can't be deleted, and would genuinely even pay to *not* have it

Thanks for all your input so far. I should mention that we already have a Volvo XC90 as our family car so the Taycan is more of a luxury folly.
I also have an XC90 as family car… I didn’t take the roof (roofline without is beautiful) and I don’t regret one bit but deffo take the air suspension, also I have standard sound and it’s pretty decent in my view again don’t regret (and I have bowers and Wilkins 3k system in the Volvo). I would say only critical items are paint, wheels, air suspension, 14/18 way seats, folding mirrors and dimming mirrors, sport sound, privacy glass, 4+1. All dealers talk about Bose and roof being essential for resale but you have to look beyond that. choose what you want (as long as your colour combo is not too whacky).

That is the spec I was going to order. A lot of car for the money, but the looks are certainly subjective and the rear is very very tight, plus handling compromised supposedly.

sorry this was in response to the i4 M50 post.

When I walked into the porsche dealership, my SA told me to set a budget and to be prepared to spend about 15k more than that
He was ultimately (and thanks to this forum) right!
Either way, the Taycan is a driver's car and I think you will enjoy a 'bare' Taycan more than any other EV - go for it!
Skip upgraded wheels and get them aftermarket..

For that money I would get a fully loaded BMW i4 M50.
Very very fast and properly spec’d with nice leather and toys. I’d have san Remo green with cognac leather
That is a very smart option… one that I seriously considered myself. There is also a you tube video on that very subject from “Autocar”. Titled “New 2022 BMW i4 M50 v Porsche Taycan review”
