option: Model Designation on Rear in High Gloss Black

The subject option is on the Taycan 4 that is en route from Stuttgart to our garage. We wouldn't have added it, but at $270 it didn't stop us from accepting the otherwise suitable configuration. The reason for this post is that the exterior color of the car is standard-equipment Black. Huh? Won't the effect of the Model Designation decoration be rather ... subtle?

No, it's Black. We didn't spec it -- it was spec'ed by a dealer for its initial inventory of the 4. Here's the complete config:

Never having seen it, it didn't make sense to me because I thought black on black would be virtually invisible. But since it's on our car, which we'll see in ~7 weeks, now I'm looking forward to it!

Wouldn't a stock 4 come with silver model designation by default? (you can check on the configurator). Black on black is a bit stealthy but quite cool IMO.

Those model designation options are a cash cow for Porsche. If you've ever had PPF or a wrap done on a Porsche, you'll find they can be removed with dental floss and are a flimsy plastic. And yes, the standard designation is in silver and can be replaced with a 100% look alike replica from e-Bay a lot cheaper.

You could ask your dealer to give you the option of changing it if you don’t like it.

Black on black is just fine IMHO my GTS is all black - wheels, paint, gloss black window surrounds.

This was a point of pride of the whole Polestar brand — putting the emblem on cars in body color. It’s still labeled — not quite a full-on delete — but more subtle than loud contrasting text. I liked it.
