I have a very small garage and I can only go in and stay in with the mirrors folded. Can anyone please post a photo of what the side view looks like on the cameras with the side mirrors folded? Does it work? What do you see in it?

Thank you in advance. I do realise there are a lot of posts on garages and park assist, but I have not seen this question answered.

I tried pulling into my garage last night with the cameras on and mirrors folded because of the other thread. I couldn’t make out any useful information from the side mirrors. The distortion is worse while driving because different parts of the picture are moving different directions.

I’ll post some video when I get home tonight if no one else does before then.

Just to be clear here. I am not asking about the 3D Surround View! Of course that will be distorted. I am asking about the side view! The actual camera feed from the mirrors! Not the top view!

I was taking about the top-down 360. What is the side view? The tire view?

There’s just the front, back, top-down, 3D, and tire views that I’m aware of. Maybe there’s another setting I didn’t see or don’t have. That said, AFAIiK, any side view will come from the side cameras and be affected.

Edit: Note that top view and 3D are different. But both are affected.

Ok, I see where the confusion is. The "side view" is the view where you are viewing both the side mirror cameras, or as you would call it, the "tyre view". Here is the button for it:

What I am wondering is what you see there when the mirrors are folded.

Ok. Will check tonight.
I too will be interested to see that- thanks (though I'm no longer reliant on the side view for garage parking of my Cayenne).
(Q below now answered, thanks Gabriel...
A related question...I rely on my side cameras when parking kerbside (mirrors fully deployed of course)- in the Cayenne, I get a good top-down view. Does the Taycan's " ParkAssist including Surround View" option provide similar? I've only managed to find images of the alternative 3d view which seems more like a party trick than an adequately clear view of wheels v kerb (and might in any case be an additional cost option?).

I think you can see that in this post, second picture. The guy seems to have the driver's door open though. Posting it here too:

This is really nice. I'm quite keen to see if this is still usable when the mirrors are folded, even if they would be pointed backwards, I'd still be happy if I'd be able to see the distance of the car from a let's say a wall in my case...

Thanks Gabriel, that's exactly the view I was hoping to see (my Google-fu powers have failed me ?).
(Regarding usability when mirrors folded- my only experience was accidental, when parking parallel to the kerb...and the cameras still worked but I didn't hang around trying to understand what I was seeing as I instead could just unfold the mirrors)

It looks like @Midlifecrisis already posted some videos for you. But I was curious about the 218cm. I’m not exactly sure what a cm is (we use freedom units here) but it sounds small, even if you have 218 of them. Maybe look for more laying around somewhere.

Anyway, I marked off 85.826” (give or take a thou) at the entry of my driveway with chalk. Relevant pictures below. Inside to inside of chalk lines is just at or slightly under 85.826” (maybe 85.825”).

The chalk is pink. In retrospect, I should have used a darker color.

Rear SIDE (not tire…?) View - Mirrors out.

Front Side View - Mirrors out

Rear Side View - Mirrors in (it just points at the car)

Front Side View - Mirrors In (can see lines, but not car).

Mirrors in looks basically worthless to me for any side camera usage.

Much better, I think, is just the front and back cameras with guidelines.

Back camera w/ guidelines.

I was able to pull in and out multiple times and stay between the lines fairly easily. So, I think if you just line up the front/back camera guidelines and keep it straight, you will be fine. ?

Jeremy I don’t even know what to say, I am genuinely flattered, thank you so much for doing this. It is extremely helpful, even if slightly scary.
