My car hasn't received any map updates for more than six months now. I have done several long distance journeys during these months, and on multiple occations the map has failed to show roads that are there since more than three years. This also leads to some confusing advice from the navigation, as well as not very acurate trip planning.

When I received the car in March 2022, there were frequent updates of the maps and I was happy with how even quite recently opened roads were "known" by the car. Has anyone else had this problem lately?

I have made sure that the settings in the PCM has enabled automatic downloads of navigational content, and I have also performed a reebot of the PCM itself. But doesn't seem to have any effect on the cars willingness to update its maps...

Some further investigations seems to reveal that the uPdate that was performed on my car in October 2022, somehow reverted the map version back to Q3 2020. Meaning more or less the map package that Taycan had when officially released.

The car has not been able to fetch and install any map updates since then, and my Porche Center has escalated the issue to experts in Stuttgart. Crossing fingers that those guys are able to get the navigation logic/module running as expected again.

Happy to report that the issue has finally been resolved. I had a longer conversation going with Porsche smartmobility and they really made an effort to sort this out. They checked various back-office settings for my Porsche account, investigated (remotely) logs from the car and in general put in their best effort. So, very happy with that.

What I however believe fixed the issue for me, was the following steps:

1. Release all assosiations between my phone and the PCM. This inludes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi bindings.
2. Do a factory reset of the PCM.
3. Move from an iPhone 12 to an iPhone 15 (likely a coincident, but let me mention it anyways...)
4. Log in with my user account in the PCM
5. Connect the phone via Bluethooth
6. Connect the phone to the PCM's Wi-Fi network.

After a couple of short trips, the PCM announced that the maps had been updated and it went from Q3 2020 to 01.2024.

My speculation is that there was some issue with the way my phone connected and assosiated itself to the car's Wi-Fi. When this was resolved, the PCM phoned the mothership and happily updated its map data. Seems to me, that a working LTE-connection from the PCM was not enough to initiate the data retrieval...

Anyway, good to have the maps and route planning up to date again. Quite some roads around southern Norway have had changes over the last 3-4 years.
