Popping sound when using Seasucker Talon

Hello !

I’m wondering if anyone has experienced a popping sound when using a Seasucker bike mount on the panoramic glass ?

I was using the Talon to carry my e-Mountain bike (Turbo Levo SL) and when the car went over bumps that would move the bike side to side, it would occasionally pop.
Makes me super concerned.

I sent an email to SeaSucker but wanted to see if another else has had this issue.

I've ran my seasucker rack once so far about 20 mile round trip to another trail head. I did not experience any pops during that drive. Roads were mostly smooth. Could it be the additional weight of the E-bike?

I think that the weight of the bike when moved laterally (like the car going over bumps that make it rock side to side) is focused on too small a section of glass. That's my theory anyway!

I'm going to try (1) having one of the arms of this mount attach to the windshield , that was SeaSucker's suggestion and (2) using their Mini Bomber mount, which spreads the load across a much larger area of glass.

Well, this approach didn't work... about 3 blocks from my house after my mountain bike ride the pop sound started showing up again.
Waiting to hear back from SeaSucker and a buddy at Porsche.
In the end I may just have to put the bike in the back (good thing it's a wagon!)

Ok, to wrap this up!

turns out the noise was the front forks of my bike moving around on the mount ! And this is because they weren’t properly torqued down , due to my torque wrench being WAY off.
I tried a second (new) torque wrench and it was significantly tighter. And when tested out when properly torqued , no noises!
So lesson here: don’t buy cheap tools.

also, I did get the Mini Bomber mount and will likely use it as I like the design better than the talon.

Hi, I have a question. I bought a minibomber and I carry two ebikes without batteries on my car, so they weigh about 20kg. The bikes hold up, but when they were in the middle of the roof, the glass on the roof waved slightly and even bent. I had a very bad feeling that it wouldn't break. When I stuck the minibomber at the very beginning, the glass almost to the windshield didn't bend like that. What was your experience with the minibomber? Have you also carried 2 bikes? Can I go 100km/hour? Thank you
