Hi everyone,

Perhaps my question or doubt is country specific, but I’m hoping someone is having similar issues and could possibly shed some light.

I’m a recent owner of a 2023 GTS and while picking it up from Germany and driving it to Portugal, I had no issues on the charging network. Some places with plug & charge and others by tapping the card.

As soon as I crossed the border from Spain to Portugal and stop for my last charge before arriving home, the charger on the planned trip did not recognise the Porsche card.

I’ve then drove to others nearby in the same city and same thing was happening, “card not recognised”.

Ended up using some other Portuguese App suggested here in this forum and that worked out but the rates seem a bit higher comparing to what I was paying with the Porsche card.

I’ve contacted Porsche in PT and they have explained that this is an ongoing issue that they are trying to sort out and hoping to have the card working soon.

They have also proposed a solution to the problem, they have advised to use the app instead and sent out instructions.

Quite simply to open the app, locate the charger on the map, click on it and select “Start for a fee”. I thought this was actually a good solution and I would be ok with it, if only it worked.

I keep getting, “the server could not be accessed”. I’ve tried several locations and all failed.

Contacted Porsche again and was told that there is no record of my attempt to charge at any location and that my account looks fine. They have said to call them next time to activate the charger remotely.

Don’t feel like relying on a phone call to possibly charge the car.

Anyone having similar issues, perhaps other countries with similar restrictions.

Embarrassed by the Portuguese public charging network, what a bunch of mafia…

Yes, in Portugal the Card doesn't work.
App solves it.
Always good to have Ionity and also evio as app.
But something even better:
With Shell recharge (german card) I paid flat out around 3 ct/ kWh at all chargers in Portugal last summer.

App ought to work - perhaps the car needs to be 'programmed' for Portugal given it's home origin was Germany - wild guess but it could be something as stupid as that.

Portugal is special. Drove there several times with Teslas, Supercharging was never charged there.
there is a "Portugal" travel-thread here in the forum.

I'll be honest, on my travels the card has worked in like 2/8 countries. It's useless. Not even bothering with it anymore, just using the app, which is also annoying as Porsche map doesn't recognize any of the high speed charging networks in East Europe or Tesla chargers.

And the more annoying part is, if you decide to cancel your subscription temporarly, and enable it again at a later date, they re-issue you a new card EVERY time. Waste of money and plastic...; they could just release a virtual card that you add to your NFC wallet on your phone.
