Green dot is quite rare for me (certainly rarer than the “rear window open” erroneous icon
I wrote to Porsche UK about service stability last week and my letter has been “assigned to a representative”. I strongly suggested they review reliability; develop a service monitoring page we can use to see whether the fault is car or server; improve internal monitoring and fix times (after recent two-day outages) and more.
whether it is car or backend the service is WAY below expectations for their brand.
especially painful for those of us coming from Tesla where we could ping our vehicle in seconds > 95% of the time.
Using MyPorsche for few weeks, here is the behavior I’ve noticed:
I hardly have a green dot when opening the app ; the grey “connecting” dot doesn’t turn to green even after tens of seconds. Actually it’s a kind of hit&miss : sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t.
BUT
Any time I send some event thru the app (door opening, charging profile update, etc.), it’s successfully sent to the car.
Same thing when the car has any event to transmit to the server (car is unlocked, window is open, charging is ongoing), the corresponding status is updated within seconds (or tens of seconds).
Plus, the widget tends to show last update time refreshed at least every day which may say the car is connecting servers once in a while.
My conclusion is : everything seems to work as designed (at least in my case) with the exception of the dot in the app when nothing is required to be send to the car or from the car.
