Had my car a few days and as I have the rear seat entertainment and that requires Wifi to work I had to buy the Porsche Connect data add on. In case anyone thinks you can use your phone as a hotspot you can but only if you disconnect it from Carplay. It cannot do casting/hotspotting and Carplay. That’s an Apple thing I think.
Since I upgraded the data 5Live via BBC Sounds won’t play an’y football and I get the ‘you cannot listen to this event in your region’ message. Similarly while parked and trying to watch games on iPlayer or BT Sport on my phone it says I’m not in the UK so can’t watch them. Obviously I can disconnect wifi but due to Carplay it seems to reconnect instantly every time.
It’s not a huge issue but it does mean you can’t cast any tv to the rear seat entertainment e.g. football while driving. It’s also a pain to have what appears to be a German located wifi in a UK car. Looking at the settings the SIM is +44 so it must be something to do with the data add on.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if there’s a setting to change or if it’s something Porsche need to sort out?
