Porsche Dashcam app problem

Porsche dascam app help needed. Dealer installed this and seems to work ok, but when I try to connect the dashcam app with wifi, it says wrong password. Manual says 1234567890, but that doesnt work. Anyway to factory reset it? Dealer is clueless so far.

I never ever could connect to the Car WiFi (like you)

A rough outline how I made it work finally:
* The app mentions a manual firmware update procedure
* Did this as described (download, put firmware file on SD card, insert SD card, wait a "long" time)
* Came back with another SSID (something with AUDxxx - smells like Audi, as other members already suggested)
* logged in with 0..9
* connected the app, and then to the WiFi
* Mobile phone app then provided (another whatsoever) firmware update
In-between there was a lot of fiddly connect thru cam/connect to WiFi, don't remember exactly, but finally, it worked.


The worst error I made (repeating it again here), citing myself
" Pitfall: The app sees a Wifi SSID "Porsche Dashcam EB8031" or similar. First connect is OK, PW 1234567890. I entered OK on the upcoming dialog and thought: OK, default PW will be fine, while just playing around. BUT: In this very dialog a generated password is being offered as default, supposed to be replaced by users new PW. I just hit OK and did not notice this. Any subsequent WiFi connect would fail, as it still used the 0..9, whereas the Cam was already programmed to the generated (and then unknown) PW."

Most probably in your case, the initial password of 1234567890 was overwritten with the random generated one upon first usage.
Very-long press (> 10 sec.) the button until three beeps are being heard. Will restore defaults.
The you can logon with 0..9, but mind: The first thing to do is either to memorize the created password (Houdini) . or instantly enter your own - before hitting any other OK.

Dealer had to refer to Porsche GB, but this worked last night. Thanks that really helped.

Just got this cam installed and can anecdotally confirm that the iPhone 14 Pro seems to be unable to connect to the vehicle, whereas an iPhone 13 mini works fine (and basically on the first try). Note that even after getting the camera working and connected to the car's wifi, my iPhone 14 Pro still cannot connect to the vehicle for some reason.

I'm curious to see if there's a way to improve the stability of it. If you have a Porsche Dashcam installed and it's connected to your vehicle wifi, can you let me know what IP address the camera is using?

You can find this by going to:

Devices > 3-dot menu for Options > Wifi Settings > Display devices connected to vehicle hotspot

And then noting the IP address shown there (make sure the camera is on).
