Porsche DashCam kills Apple Car Play

You don't have to uninstall the app. I had the Porsche dashcam in my previous CT4. What you do is that you just connect to the dashcam when you need to get something of it, update it or change settings. No need to be connected all the time. That way you can use wireless carplay.

Well I tried that, disconnected and did all I could and no luck. I did not try switching auto connect like a few folks suggested so will try that this weekend.

Tbh now that I think about this, unless I’m missing something it may not be such a huge issue. I don’t think you should buy a second device such as a tablet or such either.

In the grand scheme how often are you looking at camera footage while driving the car?? Majority of the time you would be stationary either at home or parking lot. I could see perhaps maybe while waiting to a charge you want to view it to kill time but you could just plug your iPhone in via the cable.

It’s no different than on my M3 when I want to use my tuning apps, they require turning off CarPlay as they use the wifi to bridge to my iPhone. Since it only takes less than 5 mins to apply any huge changes to the car it doesn’t bother me.

All that to say, if you want the cams just get them and let them be no need to stress out about it.

I agree - I don't need them at the same time. Ideal would be carp play is active and if I stop and need to see video, switch to camera. Issue is once installed, car play is gone and the camera grabs the wifi and won't let go....

You should only be losing wireless CarPlay with the camera installed. Have you tried using a lightening car for the iPhone to retain both?

I have not - kind of defeats the beauty of wireless car play.

Understandable, really don’t know many solutions that make sense. My track car that has a camera doesn’t have CarPlay so I’ve never run into this issue.

On my M3 only encounter the issue if I needed to check a CEL or adjust my map so the car was in a standby mode anyways so it didn’t bother me.
