Intelligent charging functions for electric vehicles
  • Porsche Engineering has extensive expertise in the development and validation of HV charging management systems.
  • This enables vehicle manufacturers to enter the market quickly and cost-effectively.
  • Intelligent charging planning always uses the most favorable electricity tariff.
  • At the same time reliably ensures that the vehicle is fully charged at the required time.

Interesting find.

I am not sure anyone else has experienced the change out of the Porsche design and branded HPC units at Porsche dealers. When I left my car for updates (large ones) heater change ( 5th one) and 6 year service yesterday, I noted the chargers had been replaced. Now there were some small units in place instead of the 300 -350 kW chargers Porsche had before. Still behind lovked gates so not useful out of office hours (plus of course a 2 hour lunch break, where the gates are closed.

I enquired and told that the old chargers had been replaced by a 120 kW charger with 2 cables. The old ones were extremely unreliable.
—when the sun shines they go faulty
-when it’s windy they go faulty
-when it rains they stop working

No idea who produced the original chargers, but they were not impressive. I would not be impressed with the knowledge of charging in the above tea, given the cumbersome settings in the Taycan..

Porsche central mandates now for the chargers to be available 24/7 ; in Switzerland most centers completely removed their fences and gates because of this.

Your center seems to be disobeying

All centers in Swiss still have the old chargers tho; never had any issues with them myself.

Would be cool if this would work on older taycans in Europe also, not just 2025/2026 🤣

Would not relay on porsche for any inteligent charging after their disaster with the charging planner that crashes the navigation and the horrible managment of profiles and timers.

Wouldn’t be convinced that their chargers are any better

Porsche Engineering launches globally compatible chargepoint management system for automakers

The software system itself has a modular structure and consists of six programme modules, each of which performs defined tasks:
  • High-voltage charging management (HVLM) communicates with the vehicle to open the charging port and enable vehicle electronics for charging.
  • Intelligent charging function (ILF) manages charge planning (which the company said is the central function of the CMS).
  • High-level communication (HLC) authenticates for Plug & Charge and for charging standard protocols.
  • Control and display protocol (BAP) communicates with the mobile end device, where drivers can view charge state and time estimates.
  • Charging management safety function (CMSF)
  • Value-added services (VAS) include an in-cable control and protection device (ICCPD) interface, which is what enables a vehicle to be charged from a standard domestic electrical socket.
. . .

It is also part of a group of legacy manufacturers that operate EV charging networks, IONITY and IONNA, in Europe and the US, respectively. However, Porsche AG is shutting down its proprietary EV charging stations in China, which total around 200 locations.

It will close its self-built charging stations in China, totalling around 200 locations, which will gradually cease operations starting 1 March 2026, the report said. Along with that, it will discontinue its Porsche Premium Charging service in China.

Afterwards, Porsche will shift towards deeper co-operation with external chargepoint operators in China. EV charging is one as-yet-unprofitable area that appears to be being targeted for downsizing to adapt.
