It will be interesting how the race pans out.
Qualifying at the LM24 hours isn’t crucial for a good result. Unfortunately the rules penalise the good so difficult to come up with a race strategy if you are genuinely good to avoid too big a penalty next time out.
My biggest hope is for Jota, but they are already behind the 8 ball… I was at LeMans last year and saw them legitimately lead the race. Factory teams have their place, but the new rules requiring equality is a long time coming. I really would like to see Callum Illot win. Jenson I’m very meh about. Estre is very fast and I will never discount Nick Tandy in the wet.

Nothing on the IMSA weekend at Watkins Glen? The 963 driven by Cameron/Nasr took overall, in what felt like a qualifying session at the end of the 6hr event.

It was surreal how quickly the rain flooded the circuit - I took my eyes off the screen for maybe half a minute, and the race changed from clear and dry to cars sliding. Looked a bit worse than Le Mans, though during daylight and 5M fewer cars on the track.

Speaking of, Watkins Glen is such a beautiful track, I'd say on par with Spa.

I love Watkins Glen and have fond memories of the US GP being held there.

It was before the era of race engineers so the designers ran the cars. I have particularly fond memories of the 1980 race, I was running Alan Jones and Neil Oatley running Carlos Reutemann.

Jones won and brought a lady from the sponsor’s PR team to dinner at the next table to Neil and I. He was treating the beer the way a good Australian should and eventually slowly slipped off this chair onto the floor.

Shame it lost the Grand Prix but I think it was a bit far out in the country. It certainly was one of the worst places for fans stealing stuff out of the garages.
