I will be picking up my GTS soon here in the SF Bay Area. It will have the thermal and noise reduction glass. Trying to decide which tint brand option to use. Planning for sides and rear no darker than 35% because tickets. Will not be tinting front windshield.

PPF guy is offering:
3M Crystalline 40% 995
Llumar CTX ceramic 35% 795

My tint guy who did my other cars is offering:
XPEL XR ceramic 35% 520

Would love to bang out the PPF and tint all at once but not sure it’s worth the ~300 premium unless the tint quality is that much better!

Would love the forum’s thoughts!

I’ve done probably every brand out there over the years and always did the top product line. Can honestly say I don’t think I ever noticed a difference among the manufacturers when comparing their top products. Installer is always the bigger factor but I imagine two installers you are considering are both quality. Does seem odd that the price point for xpel is significantly lower than others.

I've used 3M for my last 3 cars and it's been amazing. I can't confirm if it's THAT much better than the other brands under consideration as I haven't used them, but it's very high quality and comes with a lifetime warranty which is added peace of mind.

I've done both color stable and Ceramic IR.

I am in the same boat, do you know if the tint will mess up the T&NR glass? I thought it was film and not a specific type of glass itself. I may be wrong, anyone know?

The T&N glass is laminated per Porsche specs, not an onlay film

We've done 3M crystalline on our last five cars and it's being put into our Taycan with T&N glass this week. Great product.

My dealer told me that tinting noise reduction glass was not possible/advisable.
why? I don't know!

Does anyone else know? On my Taycan, the back windows came tinted (pretty heavily) from the previous owner, and now I wonder if I should get that off.

All the high-end tint brands are fairly similar. there might be minor % differences in thermal blocking, but not really enough to go shopping for one brand over another. I've used XPEL prime and Spectra Photosync. Don't really feel a difference in either.

sounds like bs to me.

Ended up deciding on 3M crystalline done at the same time as PPF. Installer mentioned more durability and less fading compared to XPEL over time based on tint and IR measurements. Will post a followup.
