Hi all

I’ve had my 2020 4s for about a year. Apart from changing the 2fans I’ve been trouble free. Reading about the red circle of death really fills me with dread as it’s time and money I can’t afford to lose. I think the car is fantastic in every way otherwise. Is there a pattern to look for or any preventive measures I should do. What would you have if you didn’t have your Taycan?

I have a 2020 4S as well, and I did end up going through the red circle of death. In my case, six battery modules were replaced under warranty. So I completely understand the anxiety when you read about it.

A couple of things I would suggest:

• If you haven’t already, get a battery State of Health (SoH) check done. It gives you a baseline and some peace of mind.

• If you’re still eligible, I’d strongly recommend the Porsche extended warranty. On a tech-heavy car like this, it’s really about risk management. I’m very glad I had coverage when mine needed work.

From what I’ve seen and experienced, there doesn’t seem to be a specific usage pattern that causes it. Mine wasn’t abused, and it wasn’t tracked, it just appears some early cars had module issues. The good news is once the affected modules are replaced, the car is typically fine, I actually got a slight range increase.

Even having gone through it, I still think the Taycan is fantastic and would own one again. The driving experience is hard to replicate.
