This is a review of the @REDTIGER F17 Elite Dashcam. Full disclosure: I received a review unit gratis in exchange for writing an unbiased review.
The RedTiger dashcam ships with the front and rear dashcam, a wiring kit for getting power from the 12V socket, static cling strips to ease installation and removal and installation instructions. Optionally, you can purchase a hardwire kit which though additional work to install, can enable passive recording when parked. My review is of the non hardwired version.
From a form factor viewpoint, the dashcam sticks to the windshield and clearly looks aftermarket. A better OEM-like integration would be nicer like some other vendors do. The wiring supplied is more than adequate, and it was easy to tuck in the wire under the headliner. I didn’t even need the crevice tool, though that would make the job easier. Definitely the concealment of wire is what makes a difference in the feel of the installation. The front dashcam is barely visible to the driver since it hides behind the rear view camera. The rear dashcam is hard to hide, though it helps that it is very compact.
What impressed me the most was the quality of the recording. In daytime the image was crisp and I could make out license plate numbers in the photos. The interior camera is also very clear. Audio recording is adequate. In low light, the image quality is acceptable though I don’t think other dash cams would fare any better.
Overall, I am happy with this dashcam with the quality and ease of use and setup. I would like to see an improvement in the form factor.
