Switching from Cayenne to Taycan Turbo 2021

I love the car. Must be super for you to turn on AC whenever you want and enter a cooled car.

Hello! Been doing a lot of research but wanted to get some more feedback from Taycan owners here

I currently drive a 2024 Cayenne Coupe (base model, bought in March 2024) and love it, but I've been dreaming of a Taycan. I’ve been searching for a used base Taycan to trade in, but keep finding Frozen Berry ones, which I’m not a fan of.

I found a 2021 Taycan Turbo in pristine condition in Coffee Beige with 14,000 km, fully loaded (carbon fiber finishes, red interior, 21" carbon fiber wheels) for $87,000. It also has the performance battery plus, and the range is perfect for me. I can sell my Cayenne Coupe for around $100,000, and add 3-year warranty to the Taycan Turbo if I get it.

After test driving the Taycan Turbo, I was AMAZED (slightly scared) by the power. In Kuwait, where the roads have their share of potholes, I'm unsure how it’ll handle daily driving. I love the car, but I’d prefer a 4S, which I can’t find used here.

Taycan Turbo owners, how is it as a daily driver? Do you get used to the power, and is it versatile enough for everyday use? I think the previous owner took the depreciation hit, so I doubt it will depreciate as heavily now.

Another question - I read on the forum that some Taycan 2020 models were faulty and had many recalls and issues on them - was that resolved on the 2021 models or is the 2021 model not as reliable compared to the later models?

I don’t understand why you want to change after 6 months? I dislike cayenne but surely you will take a huge hit financially?

Yes! I heard the AC is great on the Taycan and it can survive the Kuwait heat in the summer

I like the Cayenne, but I think it was a mistake for me. I originally wanted a Taycan but was talked into the Cayenne because of Kuwait’s potholes, which could mean more tire changes and higher costs with a lower car.

Now, every time I see a Taycan, I feel like it should be me in one of those. It came down to choosing between my dream car or playing it safe, and I went with the safer option. I work so hard and never really splurged on anything that I wanted... so now I am making the leap and splurging into a car that I want and a car that excites me rather than a car that is just reliable.

I get that ! Many of us aren’t so lucky and/or spend more time making our choice. I would have thought with cheap fuel in Kuwait a gas guzzler would be more fun - love my Taycan 4S Cross T but it’s not a 992 Turbo S ! Fortunately I have both ?

I think if I got a Cayenne Turbo I would have not been considering the switch to Taycan as much. But with a price of a Cayenne Turbo, I'd rather just get a sports car and not a sports SUV. But yeah, gas is super cheap here. I fill up my Cayenne for $25...

Cayenne Turbo still is not a close match to the Taycan. I test drove Cayenne GT and it is still too far from the fun of a Taycan.

If you have pot hole problems in your area then be very careful with a low riding Taycan. I’ve seen people bottom out on speed bumps and damaging their battery housing which can cost over $10k US.
