Another point on the battery - the expected range will drop a lot in winter when you need heaters on, de-icing, all sorts. If you still need to do longer trips in winter (when hanging round chargers is also less fun) then the extra battery is a must

The performance battery only adds 14kwh and it is not unreasonable to assume that suffers a similar degradation in the winter. In the winter I was averaging 200 miles @ 100% (new car). If I could charge at home I wouldn't have bothered. But like everything else, a potential used buyer may want to do long trips and want it. If it's leased who cares?

It really comes down to personal usage, my current M3P states it can do around 300 miles in the summer, winter that drops to maybe 240 ish. In almost three years usage I have never needed the range as my average commute (pre-covid) was approx 30 miles.

For my upcoming Taycan 4S I have not optioned the performance battery plus as I simply do not need the range, as a side effect the less weight can only be a good thing.

So my advice only option it if it something you will actually use, if you charge from home as I would guess most people do it will have more than enough range for the average commute.

Personally, I wouldn't want a car with the 4+1 seats - as we dont have kids.
And I certainly wouldn't want to be a passenger on that middle bench.

So not sure how much it will be preferable on a used Taycan Saloon.

Interested to hear what others think.

Ps Welcome OP!
Whereabouts are you from?
The cost aside.

Why would you not want it if it easier to sell? The 40-20-40 configuration may also be useful. And personally I prefer the leather above the plastic tray.
I am biased because I really wanted the 4+1 for accasional short trips with friends of my kids. The reclining centre was useful when the kids wanted to take something from the trunk while driving.

I think the 4+1 always has the 14w seat look. So that way be a reason not to chose it when having 18w seats. And otoh you see it when configuring the car but irl I haven’t looked at the seats that much now in have it.

I honestly think the rear tray is more useful to me personally than the extra seat (I'm probably a minority) but 40/20/40 could be preferable?

There is very little storage in the Taycan and I use the tray frequently for sunglasses and similar. And I doubt I will ever need a 5th person in there.

Having read this recent thread, I am happy with my choice on my saloon ?

I use the tray onder the centre console for this purpose. Don’t know if it comes with the 2+1 seat or if it is standard with the CT

Hello there

Just placed order for RWD. So looking forward to having an electrified Porsche.

coming from Maserati. Let’s see how the Taycan is. Test driven twice. Blown away by the electric drive - smooth, rapid and silent. The Porsche fit and finish is excellent.

My daily commute is 80 miles. Plan to have home charger. Work has several AC chargers all free for employees. Am usually at work for 8-10 hours. So did not opt for bigger battery

Options- Gentian blue, chalk beige interior. 360 parking camera, blind spot monitor, PDLS led headlights. Folding mirrors, Driver seat memory, Panoramic roof, upgraded alloys, wheel centre with full colour crest, ambient lighting, Bose sound.

Clearly spec for safety and luxury. Am not going to drive like junior Lewis Hamilton ! Also configured with a budget in mind.

expected delivery in June 2023. Can’t wait. Thanks
Congratulations, hope your delivery goes smoothly!

Wish I did not have the 4+1 rear seat; it's pretty silly.

I would advise to reconsider the bigger battery. Porsche advises that you charge to 85% so that already drops your range. Then if you consider getting bigger wheels, the range will drop again. Battery degradation overtime will also drop your range. When it comes time to sell the car, buyers will be concerned about the 160 mile practical range. Bigger battery is much more important for resale than 2+1 seats. Most Taycan buyers have a second car for family transport and that middle seat is useless.
Agree with this. When you sell range on electric cars will have jumped so the lower end range cars will limit the saleability. If you need to work to a budget then perhaps remove an option or two.

I think tis depends somewhat on what sort of buyer you are, and where you live.

If you don't plan to keep the car long and its trade in value is of primary importance then I see your point.

However here on the UK roads a lighter car will be better than a heavy one every day so unless one does a long journey frequently the extra weight of the bigger battery will just be carryng ballast around every day for no sensible reason.

For my use case I would not consider the bigger battery a good choice and tend to agree with the OP
