Thule Edge Wingbar or Porsche roofbars for CT4?

Dear fellow Taycan owners, I am about to purchase some roofbars to fit the kids bikes on the roof for an upcoming g trip in June. I am torn between the genuine Porsche roofbars or the Thule Edge wingbars. I have a CT4 with the roof rails. Any good advice on which one to go for? I see a good deal on Design 911 for the Porsche bars, however I cannot see how they would fit my roof rails. The Thule ones look equally good, with a reasonable price.

Thule ones, much lower profile and cheaper - I am biased though, although I think the Porsche ones aren’t so nice looking and I wanted to keep the all black GTS look consistent.

Thule ones are great and when you change cars you just need to buy appropriate bits. Looks like my RS4 set up will fit ok!

I would go Thule bars 100%. I ordered mine from a European retailer since I could not find what I wanted in the US, so you should have options to find solid bars that are also flush with the vehicle.

I also have this setup - even the Gentian paint ?
I’ve had the car 6 months and not actually needed to put them on yet - so nice to see what they’ll look like when I eventually do!

Not only do the Thule bars sit more closely to the roof, but the manner in which they connect to the rails seems to be better than the attachment method for the Porsche bars. Also, I wrap my rails with black painter's tape before installing the bars, and remove the tape promptly upon removal of the bars. I do this based on reports of scratches to the rails. I have not experienced any scratching.

It seems intuitive that the lower Thule bars would be better for aerodynamics, but aero is not always intuitive. I wish someone who really knew could elucidate (or better yet that both bars were tested).

IMO the OEM setup sits just high enough to not have any clearance concerns.

With respect to clearance issues, I push the box (I have the Porsche Performance box) as far as possible on the Thule bars, and then I just hit memory on the hatch so that it doesn't touch when open. It really doesn't hinder use of the hatch, although you do have to bend a bit more when the box is installed.

Does anyone have any experience of the Design 911 website (UK)? I see they have the Porsche roofbars, so I wanted to know if they are the actual roofbars sold by Porsche? Price is pretty good at the moment.

I was going to get the Thule bars, but now not sure if the genuine Porsche bars are actually a decent price. I have read that the Porsche bars have a metal to metal contact on the mounting point, so can anyone confirm? If so, then I would not go for them. I am looking for bars that fit a T slot connector for a bike rack I want to use which uses T slots to mount to the bars.

No direct experience with Design 911, but it's pretty well-regarded in the press/media channels focused on Porsche that I follow.

I don't recall exactly the details of the mounting claw of the Porsche towers (installed mine and never took them off); out of an abundance of caution, I wrapped the roof bars with electrical tape at the points of contact. (Black on black, doesn't show, and there's a plastic cover anyway.) The kit comes with an Allen key marked for 5Nm torque to avoid marring or otherwise damaging the bars.

Thanks for your feedback @WasserGKuehlt . I used to wrap the roof bars on my previous car and this is something I will definitely do on this one.
