Hi All,
Any tips for finding a Cross Turismo 4S allocation?
My wife and I secured a CT4 allocation with a freeze day of Dec 6th at MSRP here with our local dealer in Southern CA. Last minute after reconsidering all the options we decide a CT4S was a better fit for us. Our dealer told us although they would do MSRP for a CT4, they would need to add a mark up on a CT4S.
I searched around and most dealers are charging a markup for the 4S CT.
Are people actually paying thousands over MSRP?
Should I consider looking out of state and pay for a experience delivery in Los Angeles since that’s next door?
Should I accept defeat and realize this is a bad time to buy factory orders and wait for a MY 2023? (Im not in a rush to get a new car)
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Why do you think a CT4S is a better fit? Just curious as we just went thru this and decided a nicely optioned CT4 was a better fit then a lightly optioned CT4S. If we did the same build as a CT4S it was $16k more over the CT4. Since this is my wife's car, there were certain options she didn't want to drop to bring the price down.

We ordered back in October, car locked a few days later and was built the beginning of Nov. It's still at the dealer now and we take deliver this week.

Well, it’s mostly me thinking the CT4S is a better fit, my wife just wants any CT like yesterday.
I’m willing to pay for a well equipped CT4S over a well equipped CT4 mostly for the added speed. I suspect the CT4 speed (without launch control) is similar to a Mach E 4x premium we had until a few months ago. It was fast, 0-60 in about 5 secs (no launch control) but I feel a little more speed would give the CT a more sports car feel to it. From the reviews seems like the Taycan would have no problem handling the extra speed.
Also, there is a precedent for this, we sold the Mach E premium for a Mach E GT that will arrive next week. The premium was 50k and the GT 65k, a 15k difference similar to the price difference between the CT4 and CT4S.

Ah the Porsche dealer and SA affect...must do the higher priced car as its faster and better resale or else you'll be doomed! LOL. I also looked between the CT-4 and CT-4S and went with the later as its just very difficult to get a CT-4S now and yes its faster on paper but only about 0.8s faster I believe and for daily driving...not that much really that would matter in day to day. GTS too is faster by I think a full 1.2s to 0-60 but man the price increase from my CT-4 and the ST-GTS was about $25k difference I think and just can't justify that.

But to each your own...its an individual choice but one thing I have learned was to NOT buy my wife's car to my likings especially since I rarely drive her vehicle day to day. Have gone thru about 5+ cars for wifey where I optioned it more for what I would want than what she needed and actually would use in her vehicle...and in each attempt ended up spending over what I needed by a good amount and for stuff she never even used and did NOT need. Last two cars...her Q5 (wisdom and my driving capes/likes would have gotten her into a SQ-5) and now her BMW X3e hybirid (Folks said she had to have a X5 at min as the X3 was too small...nope just right size actually)...we got the car she needed/wanted not what other said I should have or that I would have had in my car...saved a lot of headache and at least $8k on each transaction!

How much over msrp are people asking? its funny I have a CT4S thinking it was enough but now I wish had gotten the turbo.

at over msrp I would stick with the ct4 I don’t remember the difference being that big.

Generally not, but if so, typically in California. Thankfully, with PECLA, you can order from any dealer in the country, and get it delivered there. Unsurprisingly, there is currently a bit of a wait to get a PECLA delivery slot.

I truthfully doubt you'll notice the difference between the two much. I went from a 4S sedan to a CT4, and the difference is pretty minimal, especially as my daily driver. I'm not gunning it to 60 constantly, and at passing speed, it feels exactly the same as my 4S. I was pretty concerned about the drop in power, but its been a total non issue.

The CT4 is rated at 4.8 0-60, and in typical Porsche fashion, blows this up pretty consistently. I have clocked myself in launch control doing 4.4 and 4.5 seconds with a battery just above 60%. Not that 0.3 tenths of a second is that noticeable, but its still quick.

Nothing wrong with getting a 4S though, I just don't think it's worth the premium to begin with, and if they are charging a markup, you'll be pushing into GTS or Turbo territory for a well equipped 4S, which then is something I would consider.

Thanks for the input, I ended ordering a CT4.
Porsche seems to be limiting the CT4S allocations , hard to find one without a mark up. I’m definitely not paying over MSRP and contributing to their game when dealerships are making record high profits.
