I can report that the new NSF Pirelli tyre does have 7mm tread, just over according to my cheap tyre depth gauge.
The old OSF tyre reads just over 5mm tread on same gauge so exactly 2mm difference.
That is within acceptable tolerances according to you all (thank you) and Porsche! - I am happy.
I know if I bought a new OSF tyre to match the NSF I would get a nail in the sidewall in a week.
Now I know it will never puncture and I can drive around for the foreseeable future imagining a handling imbalance.
A quick track day around a clockwise track might be appropriate?
More fun than shaving 2mm off a front tyre!

Not a huge amount of sidewall on these sorts of performance tyres. Makes them very vulnerable to any sort of poor road surface, pot hole damage, etc etc. I guess ultimately shit happens.

Silver lining: at least the tyre protected the rim. You wouldn't want to be out of pocket for a new wheel.

Does the UK have a used tire market like eBay? In the US, there are tons of used Taycan tires for sale from people who had them replaced with tire insurance, or over-cautious dealers. Makes for a good replacement when your other tires are worn.

Is Costco really any good? I just checked my car, no choices for the rear and can't see if they are NF0 rated either.

As aside, where do they actually fit them? My nearest costco seems to have a big warehouse full of tyres, but not sure i can work out where they actually fit them!!

I can recommend Costco for dishwasher tablets.

Costco in Bristol advise they can supply any tyre. Correct N. OEM Porsche and way cheaper than other tyre dealers. Dishwasher tablets, Bog rolls and Black Rat Cider good too.

Don’t buy their own brand, they are 200 grit!

I’d replace both and keep the existing non-blistered tyre as a spare.

My dealership says I can’t keep the old tire..I have insurance on the tires

Pothole usually. That "blister" is actually the sidewall deformed (crushed/pinched) by a square feature (pothole edge).
