I’m planning on driving my 4S CT (after it’s delivered next year) down to the French Alpes during the winter.

I’ve little experience of driving in heavy snow and never changed tyres or wheels for the occasional dump of snow we get in the UK.

What are other people using as their set-ups for driving in more extreme winter conditions?

(I appreciate you need to keep snow chains for driving in the alpine areas of France during the winter.)

When would you typically switch over to the winter tyres?

I’ve read good things about the Pirelli PZero Winter’s.
For me, generally in late November and back to summers late April.

Do you use two sets of wheels or just switch tyres over? My spec is currently the 20” Turbo S wheels but was considering adding the 19” Aero wheels with winter tyres or going for a set of aftermarket wheels but was a little concerned about the aero impact of using after market wheels.

I’m guessing a second set of wheels will be more convenient if you have a suitable jack that can lift a car weighing over 2 tonnes but it’s honestly never been a consideration before.

I have 2 sets of wheels, I store the unused set in my garage and take them to my local tyre depot to change them over.
He charges £20 and it saves me getting cold...
