So, luckily I never charge out in the wild. On Thursday have a work meeting at Brighton, overnight stay at the ‘grand Brighton’ and drive home Friday afternoon. I’ve checked zap map and struggling to find any quick chargers to stop at. Basically a12, m25, m23, a23.

120 or so miles one way. Range rubbish as I have the smaller battery, currently around 180 at 100%.

Ideally want to stop for a quick charge near Brighton. Can anyone add any local knowledge on this as googling isn’t working, and I admit I’m rubbish at working this out!

I'm not from that part of the world but Zap map does point quite a few 50 kwh chargers on the route looks like there's a couple at Pease Pottage Services on the M23 . They'll charge 20% to 80% in 60 mins if you have the 22kw charger option. You could stop for half that grab a coffee and have more than enough.

Cheers, pease point was the only one I saw that could work but only 2 chargers so this worries me if someone on it and have to stop for an hour plus. Haven’t got the 22kw option. Won’t have time for this really. Was ideally looking for a quicker charger, or a higher number of plugs available.

Thanks. Will have a look. Looks a bit of a detour still, and a lot of time.

Ah fair enough. Like the chap said above the Porsche dealership should have one. There were a couple more 50kw further out but would be better for a longer stop for you. I may be wrong about the charging times mind! That might be the 11kw charger. I've ordered the 22kw on mine.

Have you put the destination and added a waypoint to get back to Ipswich into the navigator? The car will give you quite a good overview of the charging stops. Check their speed though as it often chooses slow chargers in my case.

Secondly try a good route planner, such as A Better Route Planner, which is also an app.

Also check if the hotel you are staying at has a charger or plug yo use?

From what I can see ther are a number of Ionity, BP Pulse, Instavolt and more chargers along your route.

All of the above charging networks have fast DC chargers.

You do not have to concern yourself with the 11 or 22 kW options, if you look for 50 kW chargers. Once you are looking at 50 kW or faster chargers they are all DC chargers.

11 kW or 22 kW options are only for AC chargers and useful for overnight charging, but not really for Route planning. Shopping centres and some car parks have these slower chargers installed.

Have you tried using NAV to calculate this - PIRM and Route options - either via the App or PCM?

Works well (and reliable) to determine where you will need to stop and for how long at known charging locations.

Not 100% perfect but you can also add charging locations as stopovers which will be used to calculate where you'll need to charge, for how long and what you'll end up with at your destination.

Try experimenting before travelling!

ZapMap is generally a reliable source too but make sure you have all preferences set correctly to make sure you have all CCS devices displayed (I would skip AC given the additional time needed) - there will be nothing less than DC 50 kW EVSEs.

BP (BP Pulse) & Shell (Recharge) petrol stations also have charging points (not all) and these typically don't / may not feature on either PCM NAV or ZapMap. They can be added in the NAV via a Google Search as a stopover however.

Hi, have tried a couple of route planners. Nothing obvious works en route except the previously mentioned 50kw, but as I said only 2 chargers there. No charger at the hotel.
Where have you seen the ionity? I’ve checked a number of others and many say out of order.

Hi, cheers. Not tried car but the various other sources suggest limited options. Will give the car a go. Have also reviewed the Brighton site above. The 2 closet only have 1 point each, as the other are reserved for taxis. It would worry me relying on one point as my destination, and my meeting time is fixed so don’t have hours spare to be driving around Brighton. Appreciate input.

Here is a screenshot from using ABRP. Two Ionity en route, Beaconsfield and Chippenham. Seem useful in both directions. On the Ionity site you should be able to see availability.

Here is a screen shot of chargers available along your route. The filter has been set for chargers above 150 kW, so only chargers from 150 kW to 350 kW are displayed.

I also noted that there seems to be chargers available several Porsche centres. Bristol, Swindon, Reading, Colchester, to nam a few I am aware of.

I can not see that you would have any issue with your travel at all. Try the cars navigator and compare to the above location, or add waypoints as suggested.

Ensure car is driven in RANGE mode - it's optimal and will let you know accurately what charge you will have at your destination based on current SOC and identify where you should charge. Try from the Connect App first - it's easier just to get the gist of what might be possible. The PCM with the various search options will open more options but not to the fullest extent. It should be simpler but alas Porsche (others) aren't there yet.

Park and Rides are generally good places to find charge points - 50kW typically, football stadiums, other public venues.
