Air flow holes destroys the paint. Any protection solutions?

Sorry for the dirty car.. this is how the car looks 10min after a wash in Sweden during the winter.

On to my concern. The air flow ”holes” behind the front wheels; stones fly throw here and hit the paint on the sides of the car. You can here then chips hitting the car and it simply feels like a stupid solution.

Porsche in Sweden had no solution for this, of course. Anyone here that has come up with something to keep the paint to be ruined?

The car is a Cross Turismo.

I've not had the same problems yet, but then I don't drive my Taycan on the kind of winter roads that OP apparently must travel.

That said, I did have my front end PPF application extended to the front doors, just in case, which should provide some protection.

I've thought about this a fair bit and I think it would be hard for a stone to come off the tire and go straight through the fender holes to hit the door with any force. The rock would be going upward and likely hit one of the plastic slats and fall. A rock is not going to go horizontal off the tire. Saying that, I have ppf on my doors and I may try adding some foam for the winter for extra protection. I've had my vents plug up with snow a couple times already anyway.

I'm more concerned about the rear door even with ppf. I may add a second layer like I did on my 911.

Hopefully you are correct! I have not added any ppf though, so I will see what to do. Maybe they can moun the original piece from the eletrical lid for the charging space.

How come you are worried about the rear doors?

They can. I stated that in the link to the OE vent block thread. Rear doors WILL take a beating from debris where they stick out. I have a couple tiny marks already in my PPF on rear door "hip" areas. (My entire car is wrapped)

Top tip: ANY forward facing area and rockers WILL get chipped. Not if - when. Shit, my Tesla got chips in the glass roof.

Rock chips are certainly more obvious, but if you want to know what regular road debris is doing just take a look at your windshield in the sun and the fine sandblasting it takes on the regular. Follow behind a car in the rain - that's the same stuff kicking up at a much higher rate through the vents.

That little hole is spraying up road junk down the side of the car at a pretty decent velocity. It will for sure create problems over time without protection or closing it off completely. Nice idea but the 10 miles of added range doesn't seem worth it to me.

sorry about the rotated pic, but, just wanted to share how our car looks like after 1100km on asphalt roads in our city.

Look at the difference between on the angled part of the plastic part, and the part of it that goes parallell with the car.

Incredible and absolutely not acceptable.

Have this been solved for anyone by Porsche? They are looking in to the matter for me now… I am thinking that a change of cover mat in the wheel ”house” would be an OK fix, if not a complete change to the electric version of course…

I agree about the other thread, hard to see that the extra 3km in range would score higher than an undamaged car. If so, I know that from my perspective, more km would be gained from not using the 571hp instead…

Unblocked will damage paint. Thankfully my entire car has PPF. Other option is closed fender trim (Suncoast) for people like me that do not like the power charge port doors.
